Youth Nature Photography Project Co-ordinator

Young people are at the heart of the engagement work we do in local communities. This role is an amazing chance to make a difference, pulling together and facilitating a wildlife photography project for local 13-17 year olds in West Berkshire, aiming to inspire the participants to engage with nature and wildlife.

The Project Co-ordinator will work with local community organisations to identify and engage with eligible young people. You’ll also liaise with local photography tutors to coordinate the scheduling of 3-4 inspiring workshops throughout the project duration and source suitable photographic equipment for use by participants in these sessions. In essence, you’ll organise the project from start to finish, ensuring that all milestones are achieved.

While workshops will be formally delivered by the photography tutors, you will ensure that everything runs smoothly and the young people get the most from their experiences. In addition to the training sessions, you’ll organise a photography exhibition to be held at the end of the project for the programme participants and their families to attend showcasing the results of the sessions.

We are looking for an outgoing, enthusiastic person with great communication skills, a passion for engaging young people and experience delivering community outreach activities to take on this exciting opportunity.

The session workshops will be based at the Nature Discovery Centre in Thatcham, Berkshire. Planning and co-ordination work may be done flexibly, working from home or the most convenient BBOWT office. Close working with both the Learning and Visitor Centre teams to ensure the smooth running of the photography programme in a busy Visitor Centre will be key.

This post will be DBS checked at enhanced level. A criminal conviction will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining the position. BBOWT will not unfairly discriminate on the basis of criminal convictions. BBOWT’s policy regarding this matter and the Disclosure and Barring Service Code of Practice are available on request.
