We are looking to recruit a new, independent non-executive Director to the Sales Board and are seeking an individual with commercial sales and business development knowledge to complement the skills of our existing Board members. This is a voluntary role, as are the Trustees of the charity.

You could be an important part of the team that drives the growth and development of SWT (Sales) Ltd, supporting the work of Somerset Wildlife Trust.

SWT (Sales) Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Somerset Wildlife Trust (SWT). The business is growing and has a well-established and highly respected ecological consultancy, First Ecology, delivering quality services for a expanding portfolio of clients, increasing numbers of skilled and experienced staff, and significant opportunities for developing new nature-based income streams.

SWT (Sales) Ltd’s objectives are to support delivery of Somerset Wildlife Trust strategy through commercial solutions, and to generate income that can be used for charitable purposes.

The Sales Board is responsible for developing the Business Plan for SWT (Sales) Ltd, to be approved by Trust Council, and ensuring delivery of the Business Plan, reporting on progress to SWT Directors, and making the annual gift in accordance with the Articles.

The Sales Board provides strategic governance and manages risk for the commercial activities of SWT including, but not limited to, First Ecology, retail activities and commercial income streams.

About you

You must be able to demonstrate you meet the role description outlined in the recruitment pack below, and bring with you skills in at least one of the following areas:

  • strategic business growth and development
  • innovation and entrepreneurial approach to new commercial product development
  • strategic financial management
  • strategic level experience of consultancy work

You must also be passionate about nature and willing to commit to the mission and values of Somerset Wildlife Trust.
