Can you help us raise Grants income to deliver our work for wildlife conservation in Somerset? As Grants Officer you will work with our Grants and Project Development Manager and teams across the charity to identify funding sources, submit grant applications and steward relationships with funders helping to achieve our Wilder Somerset 2030 strategy.

The successful candidate will ideally have proven experience in grant funding from a range of sources, the ability to write high-quality cases of support and a good understanding of the grant management process. You will be creative and flexible in your approach to work, confident to raise ideas and explore new avenues for grant-funding, and to build relationships with trusts and trust administrators by phone, email or letter.

Ideally you will have experience of prospect research and of using Customer Relationship Management software, preferably Blackbaud NXT Raiser’s Edge. In addition, you will be comfortable building relationships with work colleagues, including other members of the fundraising team, as well as with our Engagement, Nature Recovery, Reserves and support staff. Happy to work collaboratively, you will also be able to work autonomously, as part of a busy and motivated team, to meet agreed income targets.

While some previous experience is necessary, we are open to applications from individuals who have been involved in preparing successful bids working outside a fundraising team. What we will need you to demonstrate is a talent for relationship building, the ability to listen carefully and intuitively to shape opportunities, and a commitment to grant-fundraising for nature conservation.

Full or part time hours would be considered for this role.

Benefits:

  • 7% employer pension contribution
  • 25 days leave plus Bank Holidays & 3 additional discretionary days (pro rata)
  • Flexible working including Time Off in Lieu & home working options
  • Dedicated 24-hour Employee Assistance Programme for you and your household
  • Part of a national team of Wildlife Trusts Staff
  • Discounts in high street retailers
  • Joining a supportive team with Mental Health awareness and champions
  • Working across some of the most beautiful locations in the county
