Prospective Chairs are asked to contact recruitment@somersetwildlife.org to arrange an informal discussion about the role with the current Chair, Graeme Mitchell, before applying,
Somerset Wildlife Trust has grown significantly over the last few years, rising to the twin global challenges of the climate and biodiversity emergencies. Our new strategy, Wilder Somerset 2030, commits us to ambitious goals that will lead the change needed for nature’s recovery in our county. While we are experiencing significant change as we grow, the Trust is financially stable with a strong and experienced team of staff, trustees, volunteers and supporters who all share a passion and commitment to our charity and our work for nature.
Trustees are looking for a new Chair who can lead the Trust through the change process and into the next phase of delivery as a bigger organisation, with more reach, big ambitions and as a more inclusive and diverse Trust.
The Chair will lead Trust Council to shape our strategic direction, ensure best use of our valuable resources and that we operate to the highest standards. You will lead meetings to seek agreement on strategic decisions, and ensure all Trustees are able to play to their strengths as equal and valued members of Trust Council.
You can find out more about the role in our Chair recruitment pack below.
If you think you have the strategic skills, relevant experience and a passion for wildlife in Somerset then we look forward to hearing from you.
Trustees recognise that board diversity is vital for Somerset Wildlife Trust to achieve our aims and deliver our plan for nature. We have committed to an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan and encourage applicants who share our passion for Somerset, for wildlife, for our values and our purpose, from all and any backgrounds.
