Are you looking for your first role in nature conservation, looking to build your wildlife experience, recently qualified and wish make a positive contribution to the practical conservation of the Shropshire countryside?

Your role will involve practical works and management of our nature reserves alongside our existing reserves team.

A large part of the job will involve managing volunteer groups and you will need to work with them in a pleasant and efficient way such that the work is done efficiently to a good standard whilst ensuring that the volunteers enjoy the experience and continue volunteering with SWT.

You will work closely with the reserves team to quickly become familiar with the nature reserves including their risk assessments and management aims.

You will also work with the practical reserves officer who will act in a mentoring role to assist with the above and help you quickly acquire the skills required to manage tasks alone.

As the main user of practical tools and equipment you will be expected to maintain and organise the equipment so that it is kept in a serviceable and safe condition, and stored in a logical and efficient manner.
