The Wildlife Information Officer will work across the Trust’s departments supporting conservation, people engagement and marketing teams to ensure that the spatial data and analytical needs of the Trust are met.
You will work with colleagues to ensure that the Trust is an important contributor in the field of wildlife monitoring and evidence, presenting accurate, clear and attractively mapped information to the public, funders and partner organisations.
The primary focus of this role will be establishing, developing and overseeing the Trust’s GIS systems, supporting and enabling staff and volunteers to use GIS and wildlife recording systems. The role will help develop monitoring of our impact as an organisation against our targets. Mapping will be produced by the officer to support strategic planning, management of the Trust’s nature reserves, conservation and citizen science projects, promoting our work and providing information to our members, partners and the wider community.
The successful applicant will have an excellent understanding and experience of using GIS software, (ArcGIS and QGIS ideally), good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. The officer will be able to demonstrate excellent skills in data analysis and reporting. An enthusiasm for and understanding of ecology and nature conservation will be an advantage.
