Who we are

The Wildlife Trusts are a federated movement of 46 individual charities, supported by a central charity, the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts. Together we have more than 900,000 members, 38,000 volunteers and 3,400 staff across the UK. We are at a pivotal moment in our 110-year history, with an ambitious new Strategy 2030 setting out a vision of nature in recovery, with abundant, diverse wildlife and natural processes creating wilder landscapes where people and nature thrive.

The next few years will be critical in determining what kind of world we will all live in. We need to reverse the loss of wildlife and put nature into recovery at scale as a matter of urgency if we are to prevent climate and ecological disaster. This will require big, bold changes in the way we think and operate, and the development of a strong, collaborative culture. It will require key stakeholders and the public to take action for nature’s recovery.

About you

You will have demonstrable experience of building and implementing marketing campaigns, to include social media ads, supporter journeys and conversion rate optimisation plans that deliver against income and lead generation goals.

You will be comfortable running digital fundraising campaigns to agreed targets, timings and budgets, providing high quality reports to senior leaders and managing a small team to help you drive income and new supporter acquisition. You will be strategic by nature; someone who easily sees the big picture, strives for improvement and are able to think on your feet.

Whilst delivering the central charity’s digital fundraising programme, with a key focus on growing The Wildlife Trusts’ membership through digital recruitment, you will provide expert advice to support individual Wildlife Trusts across the UK to grow and develop their own digital fundraising programmes, sharing best practice and market intelligence and helping to upskill colleagues from across the movement. In doing this, you will directly contribute to the delivery of a key ambition in The Wildlife Trusts’ Strategy 2030 to deliver a step-change in the scale and diversity of funding for nature’s recovery. Excellent relationship management must be at the core of who you are, and an ability to work closely with agencies as well as internal stakeholders will be important.

You will analyse and report on digital fundraising campaign performance providing recommendations and reforecasting budgets to ensure the best possible return on expenditure. You will also have a good eye for content, ensuring it is effectively tailored for different audiences and channels, interpreting data on its effectiveness to drive income and action.

In addition to an ‘always on’ digital membership recruitment programme, you will oversee the development of The Wildlife Trusts’ DIY annual Big Wild Walk – engaging thousands of individuals in completing a fundraising challenge for us. You will also be responsible for researching and developing new digital products, recommending options to develop our online shop, and growing income from some of our retail collaborations.
