Species rich grassland creation and restoration lies at the heart of Cheshire Wildlife Trust’s strategy to reverse the decline of the nature crisis. We are currently seeking an integral role to the team, open to a driven, passionate and experienced person.

For nearly 10 years CWT have grown the Pollinating Cheshire project and have created, enhanced or restored over 160ha of species rich grassland aiming to tackle the terrible state this important habitat is in in Cheshire. We are at a tipping point where we want to grow this even further and scale up our delivery.

As part of the soon to be published Local Nature Recovery Strategy, grassland creation and restoration across the county will contribute significantly to delivering regional and national objectives to tackle biodiversity losses.

The aim of the project is to create a viable network of species-rich meadows that will act as stepping stones to reconnect existing areas of priority habitat across Cheshire. Building on our experience to date, we want Pollinating Cheshire to continue to increase the floral and vegetative diversity of hay meadows and grassland across the county.

We harvest our own seed, we grow our own plug plants, we work with landowners and managers across Cheshire and we create these wonderful spaces. But we want to do more, we want to reintroduce rare or lost Cheshire species of wildflower, we want to work with more farmers and land managers, we want to create a network of people with great meadows, and we want to make a real difference.

The successful candidate will work closely with the wider team and integrate our nursery operation with our habitat creation on the ground, be the go to person for technical information for colleagues and partners, communicate widely what we do and how we do it and of course work with our super volunteers. We need the right person with the expertise, passion and drive to deliver this on the ground.
