Interim Opportunity: Head of Marketing, Communications and Advocacy (3-6 Months)

Are you ready to amplify Kent Wildlife Trust’s (KWT) campaign for a Wilder Kent as we reach the pivotal 5-year countdown to achieve our goals by 2030 and beyond?


We’re seeking an experienced and immediately available Head of Communications and Marketing, for an interim role to design our approach over the next 5 years to inspire action, increase engagement, and drive our vision for a Wilder Kent.


Role overview

As the Head of Communications, Marketing, and Advocacy, you’ll oversee our marketing, PR, and advocacy initiatives, ensuring Kent Wildlife Trust is a leader in conservation communication. This pivotal role will shape strategies, drive campaigns, and lead a talented team while ensuring we achieve impactful connections with audiences across Kent.


You will be instrumental in developing sector-leading systems, processes, and infrastructure that ensure KWT’s messages resonate with diverse audiences, strengthen our advocacy, and boost our visibility.

hat you'll be doing:

  • Wilder Kent Campaign Development: Design and lead an ambitious, integrated marketing and communications plan to inspire engagement with our vision for a Wilder Kent.
  • Team Leadership and Partnership Development: Support and mentor a high-performing team including staff and freelancers to deliver our full range of marketing and communications activity.
  • Maintain and develop partnerships that maximise our reach to a broader audience.
  • Campaigns & PR: Deliver innovative sub campaigns that drive public and media support, strengthen partnerships, and influence decision-makers.
  • Digital & Traditional Marketing: Oversee impactful, multichannel communications, ensuring consistency of brand, tone, and messaging.
  • Advocacy: Amplify our best-in-class advocacy efforts to influence policies and secure the future of Kent’s wildlife.


What we're looking for:

  • Experience: Substantial senior-level experience in communications, marketing, PR, and advocacy, with a track record of delivering successful campaigns and leading high-performing teams.
  • Track record: Of delivering transformative results that drive engagement and enhance organisational impact.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to inspire and manage diverse teams to deliver on ambitious targets in fast-paced environments.
  • Skills:
    • Exceptional strategic and creative thinking.
    • Strong negotiation and influencing abilities.
    • People and partnership development
    • Expertise in media and digital platforms.
  • Passion: A deep understanding of conservation and alignment with Kent Wildlife Trust’s mission.

Location:

Hybrid (based at Tyland Barn, near Maidstone, with remote working options).


Contract:

Interim role (3-6 months) (Permanent recruitment for a Head of Marcomms and Advocacy will open from January 2025 and we encourage those who are interested in both to make it known)
