As an Ecologist you will be key in supporting strategic ecology work from surveys to reporting, as well as taking on project management responsibilities for our developing Coastal Explorer Internship Project and working with our Technical Consultants to support the development of NBS opportunities on a regional and national scale.

Full or Part time hours will be considered.

We have an agile working policy where staff can work from home, office or other agreed remote location. The location of employment will be the individual’s nearest Kent hub.

Globally and nationally wildlife is in steep decline. We appear to be reaching critical tipping points around the loss of biodiversity as well as around climate change, both being interlinked. Human society cannot prosper without wildlife and healthy ecosystems.

Kent’s wildlife needs to be restored to much higher levels. We can no longer allow common things to become rare. We can only do this by restoring large-scale habitat from degraded land. Doing this will contribute to solving global problems. But we won’t be able to do this unless we publicly aspire to a higher level of impact and show that we can deliver this.

KWT Consultancy Services (KWT CS) is part of the Kent Wildlife Trust Group (KWTG). KWT CS returns any profit generated to conservation work in Kent via Kent Wildlife Trust itself.

We are at the forefront of solutions to the nature and climate crisis. The KWT Group holds the unique position of being able to evaluate and providing variations for clients on natural capital through its propriety Carbon + Habitat Tool.

We are at a crucial stage of our development as a consultancy and need ecologists and senior ecologists with our expanding work in Kent and with our colleagues in the Wildlife Trust Consultancies nationally.

Your role will be pivotal in supporting KWT Consultancy Services and the KWT Group with consultancy and conservation work and you will have the opportunity to support Trust work, develop consultancy work, get involved with local, regional and national Nature-based Solutions work and have a great working relationship with colleagues across the Wildlife Trust Consultancy community.

We are looking for all levels of knowledge and experience. It is important that you have a desire and enthusiasm for high integrity ecology work that encompasses a love of conservation and real interest in areas such as Nature-based solutions and the wider emerging discussion on nature’s recovery, wilding and Natural climate solutions.

Kent Wildlife Trust is the leading wildlife charity for Kent and Medway, supported by its members and staffed by committed professionals. Join our team and help us create a Wilder Kent! In return we will inspire you, listen to you, value you, treat you equally and fairly, look after your health and wellbeing and encourage flexibility from day one, enabling you to draw on these benefits to be a better, happier and more productive you.
