The Peatland Programme Manager will oversee the management of an established Peatland Team and funded/contracted projects that are being delivered. They will also develop new projects through a mixture of public and private resources to achieve peatland restoration and take the lead in developing the Northumberland Peat Partnership.

The post is offered as a full-time permanent contract, underpinned by EF funding, till March 2027. A continuation of the programme is expected, given the uplift in peatland restoration incentives and assuming that funding is successfully lined up for the future, a task for the Programme Manager.

The aim of the Northumberland Peat Partnership is to develop a peatland restoration programme across the partnership area, which is all of Northumberland north of the A69. The partnership comprises of NGOs, local authorities and statutory agencies as well as land managers. Its aim is to collectively facilitate positive management and restoration of peatland habitats across Northumberland, excluding the area already covered through the work of the North Pennines AONB (south of the A69). The partnership has been successful in obtaining funding from Esmée Fairbairn (EF) Foundation till the end of 2026 and are exploring further funding options.
