Job reference: Citizen Science Officer

The WSBRC (Wiltshire & Swindon Biological Records Centre) is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our successful and ambitious team. This is an exciting opportunity to design and deliver a programme of wildlife surveys and monitoring work as part of the Cranborne Chase & Chalke Valley Landscape Partnership’s Nurturing Nature Project (www.cranbornechase.org.uk/chaseandchalke).

If you have already gained skills and experience in ecological surveying and monitoring and are looking for a role in which you will be able to really make a difference, then we would like to hear from you. The role will involve working with key partners, volunteers, farmers and landowners to design and deliver a programme of activities, surveys and monitoring work specifically focusing on key woodland and chalk grassland species across the Chase & Chalke landscape. You will allocate resources and coordinate specialist consultants and volunteers to complete the work and leave a legacy of baseline data and established and repeatable methodologies. This will support a wider programme of works designed to help halt and reverse the decline in species populations across this area of Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

You will be joining a dynamic team which sits within Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, a charity committed to nature’s recovery across Wiltshire, with over 40 nature reserves and 23,000 members. We deliver high profile, nationally important work.

Wiltshire Wildlife Trust is an exemplary employer with high staff satisfaction and multiple benefits for employees. These benefits include:

  • Pension up to 7.5% non-contributory
  • 25 days annual leave plus public holidays
  • Group risk insurance – death in service and income protection
  • Staff discount at WWT cafes, retail and classes
  • Head office in Devizes town centre with free parking
