Set in the beautiful grounds of Abbotts Hall, a nursery practitioner is needed at the first outdoor Nature Nursery run by Essex Wildlife Trust

As a Nature Nursery Practitioner, the post holder will support the Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager in running the first outdoor Nature Nursery run by Essex Wildlife Trust. Our pioneering outdoor nursery provides exceptional holistic childcare for 2-5 year-olds based on learning through nature and inspired by the Scandinavian approach.

Set in the beautiful grounds of Abbotts Hall, our Nature Nursery creates an environment that will inspire children to be confident, curious and independent learners, developing a rich and lifelong love and understanding of the natural world. Children have an opportunity to play in the woodland, explore in the meadow and collect fruit and vegetables they have grown themselves, all within secure boundaries. The post holder will model outstanding practice, following children’s interests, enhancing their learning in a beautiful natural environment. With enthusiasm and dedication, we have high aspirations that practitioners you will use their own personal interests and skills to influence the delivery of the early years’ outdoor curriculum.

It is essential that applicants have knowledge of the statutory EYFS requirements, hold at a minimum a Level 2 Early Years qualification with experience of the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework and an understanding of learning needs. We welcome applications from those who also hold a Level 2 Forest School qualification.

This role is designed to be flexible and we welcome interest from those looking for a full -time, part-time or term-time position. The Nature Nursery is open all year, including school holidays, and work shifts are designed on a rota basis to ensure provision is available between 7:30am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday. The starting salary is £23,690.00 per annum (FTE). Please note on your application form if you are interested in a full -time, part-time or term-time position.
