We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Assistant Reserves Officer (New Forest) to assist the Forestry Manager in all aspects of the day-to-day management of the suite of
nature reserves the team covers including the Trust’s premier reserve; Roydon Woods.

We are seeking an Assistant Reserves Officer (New Forest) to join our cause.

This permanent role involves:
Working with the Forestry Manager, to deliver the annual work program in compliance with Stewardship agreements.
Forestry operations using chainsaw’s, tractors and associated mounted equipment, forwarder trailers, winches and swipes.
Grassland management using tractors and mounted equipment.
Provide effective supervision support and training for the various volunteer groups.
Develop the existing weekly team.
Depending on skill set and experience the post holder could become part of the in-house training and development team

Experience

Practical land and management experience
Livestock handling
Competent in agricultural fencing
Off road driving experience 4x4, UTVs and tractors
Working with volunteers and the public

Knowledge

A genuine interest and knowledge of British wildlife and nature conservation
Some understanding of ecological surveying
Understanding of Health and Safety issues related to countryside management and the public

Skills

Certified and very confident in the use of Chainsaws
Certified and confident in the use of tractors, and associated equipment
Full driving licence
IT literate
Current first aid certificate
Ability to work alone or as a part of a team

Personal Qualities

Polite, reliable and good communicator
Positive, forward-thinking attitude
Physically fit
Self-managing, but capable of working as part of a team
