Renewables Attorney (Houston)
A well established global energy firm with a growing presence in North America are seeking a commercially minded In-House Counsel to support their solar and energy storage development pipeline across the U.S.
This is a rare opportunity to work on a wide range of legal matters spanning finance, development, construction, operations, and M&A activity within a fast paced and ambitious renewables business.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Drafting and negotiating key contracts related to utility scale solar and ESS projects (site control, interconnection, EPC, power purchase, joint ventures, project finance, etc.)
- Leading negotiations and resolving disputes with counterparties including landowners, regulators, JV partners, and lenders
- Advising business teams on legal and commercial risk across multiple project structures and business models
- Managing day-to-day legal needs including service contracts, real property agreements, official letters, and corporate resolutions
- Researching and interpreting regulations in the U.S. renewable energy space and coordinating with external counsel as needed
What we are Looking For:
- 5+ years of legal experience, ideally with a mix of law firm and in-house within Renewable Energy
- Solid understanding of U.S. solar and storage project lifecycles
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and leadership skills
- Comfortable operating in a lean legal function, with the agility to juggle strategic and tactical legal work
- High integrity and accountability, with a proactive approach to problem-solving
