Internal Communications and Employee Engagement Manager

The Internal Communications and Employee Engagement (IC&EE) Manager develops, manages, and implements plans that align with employee engagement strategy inclusive of internal communications for The Nature Conservancy’s 400+ employees of the Marketing and Communications Team (MAC), and on behalf of the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer.
The IC&EE Manager is responsible for ensuring that MAC staff are informed about and engaged in the MAC strategy and priorities, as well as the key priorities of The Nature Conservancy.
They are responsible for internal communications from the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer (CMCO) and the Business Strategy and Operations Team (BSO). In this capacity they exhibit excellent, creative writing with experience in developing written communications and talking points on behalf of an executive, and the ability to learn and write in the voice of the CMCO and/or other executives. They develop and maintain expertise related to MAC and TNC subject matter priorities and are confident and comfortable interacting with executive-level leadership.
They lead the execution of the employee engagement strategy and annual plans. This includes but is not limited to:
developing plans to implement the MAC employee engagement strategy;
developing the annual plan, informed by strategic goals, for MAC All Staff meetings and sessions, including determining content/programming, coordinating with and guiding colleagues on best practices, and reviewing or creating presentation materials for all staff meetings and sessions;
writing, designing, coordinating inputs for, and publishing the monthly all staff newsletter;
managing programming, communications, and logistics for large and complex in-person and virtual all-staff conferences, gatherings, or events;
creating well-designed presentations or other visual communications;
owning and actively managing the MAC intranet site;
thinking creatively about new ways of engaging with staff in a virtual working environment
They draft sensitive internal communications and operational updates with discretion and clarity, including change announcements. They use data to drive decision-making related to internal communications and employee engagement.
As the Internal Communications and Employee Engagement Manager, you will:
Own and execute annual employee engagement strategy, plan, and tactics for the MAC business unit.
Develop written and visual internal communications materials on behalf of the CMCO; including writing in the voice of the CMCO for written or verbal communications, including talking points.
Develop messaging and communications that are tailored to the audience and written in simple to understand, relatable and authentic way.
Develop and execute annual plan for all internal communications, including staff meetings, determining topic areas based on strategic goals, planning in coordination with multiple colleagues, and reviewing or creating presentation materials.
Coordinate, design, write, and publish MAC monthly newsletter and other all-staff internal communications.
Manage programming and write and sends communications for large and complex all-staff conferences or gatherings.
Provide coaching, writing and presentation support, and event production support to presenters on MAC calls and at MAC events.
Develop written and well-designed visual internal communications materials in support of the MAC business unit, the MAC Business Strategy & Operations team, and leadership within the MAC business unit.
Research, plan, and execute creative and engaging virtual and/or hybrid events and other opportunities for employees to engage with each other, build rapport, and have fun.
Own and manage the strategy and content of the MAC intranet site.
Execute plans that align with strategic goals and guiding principles for CMCO communications.
Serve as an advisor to colleagues on internal communications and employee engagement within MAC.
Develop and maintain expertise related to MAC and TNC subject matter priorities.
Ensure that our core values and different perspectives are represented in all internal communications channels from our all-staff emails to our Intranet, to event programming.
Work across a wide spectrum of constituencies and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Opportunity to act independently within program goals.

Some occasional travel may be required.

Exceptional written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to craft compelling, original content across a variety of formats and channels. Proven talent for creating content that connects with diverse audiences and reinforces brand voice and values.
Experience writing on behalf of others and tailoring for voice.
Demonstrated experience in a communications role.
Experience implementing and measuring communication and engagement plans/strategies.
Excellent organization skills, accuracy, attention to detail, and follow-through.
Exceptional presentation and materials design skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and confidently, consistently aligned with organizational brand guidelines and tone.
Comfortable managing multiple projects and workstreams simultaneously.
Experience with or interest in employee engagement strategies.
Experience and/or comfort with working with executive level staff.
Interest in the role of internal communications and employee engagement in building strong organizational culture.
Driven self-starter, comfort working independently and collaboratively.
Knowledge and application of current and evolving trends in internal communications and/or employee engagement.
Experience leading or managing projects.
Interest in conservation.
What You’ll Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in related field and a minimum 7 years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience managing client and account relationships.
Experience implementing and managing multiple complex projects.
Experience negotiating agreements.
Salary Information:
The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $67,000 - $100,000 . This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
