Senior Exchange, Transform, and Load (ETL), Data Warehouse Engineer

The Sr. ETL / Data Warehouse Engineer leads the development of data warehousing solutions to power business intelligence for the International Membership program of The Nature Conservancy. As a part of the Global Membership team, they will synthesize business requirements for all fundraising information and create / implement solutions to integrate data from various internal and external systems (Financial, HR, CRM, Google Analytics, etc.) and build / maintain our customer data warehouse.
This position analyzes the data needs of the International Membership leadership and other stakeholders seeking business intelligence and builds custom data sources and data models to address those needs. They gather and document requirements, design and improve data schemas, and build efficient and streamlined ETL processes. They enhance the performance of reports, dashboards and predictive models by optimizing the underlying data structures. They collaborate with IT staff to leverage their expertise in ensuring the reliability, accuracy, and performance of all custom data sources that feed the flow of global business information for the program. They will be responsible for designing and implementing these solutions in a creative, collaborative team environment. In collaboration with TNC IT and external vendors, they operate and maintain the International Membership programs’ ETL and Warehouse systems. This position is the first-tier support for resolving incidents and processing change requests.
We’re Looking for You:
Write code to build ETL processes to integrate information from various internal and external IT systems.
Design, align and optimize data models based on business purpose (e.g. analytics, self-service reporting, predictive modeling, etc.), focusing on flexibility, efficiency and eliminating redundancy.
Conduct analyses of business or technical user needs, document requirements and design tailored data solutions to continuously improve the accuracy and completeness of all captured customer data.
Monitor performance of ETL processes and build in redundancies to avoid risk of an information outage.
Provide support and troubleshoot questions arising from report developers and business users of these data solutions.
Design and implement a program to continuously improve the completeness, quality and accuracy of all captured data elements in the warehouse; and, automate the detection and repair of all data anomalies.
Build and maintain the Data Dictionary, ETL process flow diagrams and data model visualizations.
Build, adapt and modify core processes in response to changing circumstances.
Assist in the development of data standards in compliance with IT best practices.

What You’ll Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in information technology or computer science or related field and/or combined equivalent of education and experience.
5 years of combined experience as a business or technical profession in Information Technology or a related field.
Experience with SQL in an analytical or data engineering role.
Experience in designing, building, maintaining and continuously improving data intake and ETL processes geared toward delivering Business Intelligence.
Experience with at least one general purpose programming language.
Experience in Project Management methodologies and tools
Experience in defining and documenting complex systems requirements.
Experience working closely with data vendors, business stakeholders and analytic teams to gather business requirements and implement continuous improvements.
Desired Qualifications
Experience working with Azure or AWS cloud data warehouses.
Experience with building database objects in Microsoft SQL Server, optimizing queries and writing stored procedures.
Experience in data modeling and data warehouse design.
Experience designing and implementing a program to continuously improve the completeness, quality and accuracy of all captured data elements in the warehouse; and, automate the detection and repair of all data anomalies.
Experience working with CRM systems and integrating multiple sources of customer data.
Ability and desire to mentor and train others.
Experience implementing SDLC development principles.
Demonstrated team-building skills.
Experience with the development and execution of test plans.
Experience with PowerBI, Tableau or other dashboarding tool.
Experience with Google Analytics.

Willingness to occasionally travel internationally (2-3 times per year).

Salary Information:
The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $91,600 - $133,400 . This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
