The Exchange Transaction Senior Specialist provides highly specialized finance/accounting-related services related to The Nature Conservancy’s (TNC) exchange transaction revenue process.

The Exchange Transaction Senior Specialist performs essential accounting functions and provides specialized services in financial management and reporting of TNC’s exchange transaction revenue in accordance with ASC 606. They have a high level of expertise in their area of specialization. The position records, administers, and maintains finance/accounting activities and records, which involves reviewing and analyzing contracts to determine revenue recognition implications to ensure accurate financial reporting, particularly focusing on exchange transaction revenue within the context of a nonprofit organization, and in accordance with TNC policies and procedures and best practices in financial management. They are also responsible for all essential accounting in TNC’s accounting system related to customer contracts. Thay respond to moderately complex employee and or management questions and problems based on advanced knowledge of the subject area.

RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE

  • Performs day-to-day accounting activities related to exchange transaction revenue streams, including creating customers, recording contracts, creating invoicing and revenue recognition schedules, invoicing customers, and applying payments.

  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of financial reports related to exchange revenue recognition, including running routine reports.

  • Assists with compliance with programmatic commitments, TNC policies and procedures, financial standards and legal requirements.

  • Act as part of a team of subject matter experts in ASC 606, serving as a resource for internal stakeholders and external auditors, particularly regarding the nuances of nonprofit revenue.

  • Assist with the development of initial processes to manage Exchange Transactions, inside and outside of the ledger system.

  • Reinforces consistency in the organization's policies and procedures and provides support related to relevant fields.

  • Multi-lingual skills appreciated.

  • Ability to manipulate, analyze and interpret data. Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Accuracy, attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.

  • Non-profit accounting experience.

  • Experience with GAAP including ASC 2014-09 Topic 606 and not-for-profit accounting principles, practices and regulations.

  • May require technical expertise on complex accounting/financial issues.

  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel and financial systems, including Workday.

  • Service oriented. Courteous, personable, tactful and experienced dealing effectively with all levels of staff.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field and 3 years' related experience or equivalent combination.

  • Experience with accounting/financial issues and analysis.

  • Experience using accounting and financial reporting systems.

  • Technical experience with spreadsheet programs, general ledger reports and financial management tools.

  • Experience with GAAP and fund accounting principles, practices and regulations.

Salary Information:

The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $55,360.00-$89,180.00 . This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
