The Marketing Manager develops, creates and implements plans that align with the strategic priorities of the Marketing and Communications and New York Divisions. They build new collaborations with media, brand, influencer, and corporate partners, and develop and manage special events, brand activations and promotions. They translate science and conservation into approachable and engaging narratives that can be adapted to suit multiple media.

The comprehensive communications plans that the Marketing Manager develops and implements contribute substantively to marketing efforts such as in-person and virtual events, advertising campaigns, and brand, influencer and corporate partnerships. They manage brand activations and promotions. They research, write and distribute a wide variety of communication materials and measure marketing plans’ success and provide corrective recommendations when needed.

They collaborate across the New York Division, Marketing and Communications Division, and/or Global Markets for cross-cutting promotions, partnerships, programs and activities. These may include face-to-face canvassing with the Membership team and marketing and celebrity engagements with the TNC Marketing team in order to build new partnerships and affiliations that increase The Nature Conservancy’s brand visibility and reputation. To do this, they develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including senior staff, field offices, department and division staff and vendors. They may coordinate and manage budgets for the initiative/program and may oversee the day-to-day tasks of the program.

The Senior Marketing Manager will build new collaborations with media, brand, influencer and corporate partners, and develop and manage special events, brand activations and promotions. They will be adept at managing marketing contracts and budgets and in tracking results against key performance indicators (KPIs). They will also play a role in ensuring brand consistency, and will act as a point person with creative, research and media agencies and other outside consultants. We’re looking for a team-oriented collaborator who will work across the New York and Marketing and Communications Divisions and/or Global Markets for cross-cutting promotions, partnerships, programs and activities.

Systems leadership, creativity, and the ability to influence without authority are key in this role.   • Bachelor’s degree in related field and a minimum 7 years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience managing client and account relationships.
  • Experience designing, implementing and managing multiple complex projects.
  • Experience negotiating agreements
  • Experience tracking marketing results and key performance indicators (KPIs)


  • Multi-lingual skills appreciated.
  • Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience preferred.
  • Experience leading in a team-based environment with internal and/or external partners.
  • Experience applying marketing principles on projects/programs.
  • Experience managing a budget.
  • Experience managing staff, interns or volunteers
  • Practical knowledge of current and evolving trends related to field of experience.
  • Experience conceiving and writing creatively for various audiences from technical information.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to articulate ideas in a compelling manner.
  • Detailed knowledge of procedures and terms in marketing and communications.
