Communications is a vital strategy for The Nature Conservancy’s bold mission and agenda. The Communications Manager implements and manages focused communication plans that advance the organization’s goals and priorities and elevate its profile. The Communications Manager is part of team of New York marketing and communications professionals and will work collaboratively with other key departments such as development and conservation to develop effective messaging and plans to actively identify and engage internal and external audiences such as employees, trustees, partners and donors. The Communications Manager will help facilitate on-going communications for the NY Executive Director and other NY leadership including managing the Executive Director’s Twitter and LinkedIn accounts and some donor communications . They will work with the NY ED and NY leadership on preparation for NY Board of Trustees meetings and other virtual and in-person meetings and special events. This may include preparing written communications, PowerPoint presentations, and talking points. They will research, write, and distribute a wide variety of external stakeholder and internal communication materials including but not limited to: conservation updates, monthly e-news communications and email distributions.

The salary range for this position in New York City, NY is $82,000 to $87,000 annually.


  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and a minimum of 5 years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience writing, editing, and proofreading.
  • Experience cultivating and managing client/stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience organizing and coordinating multiple projects and timelines.
  • Experience managing social media accounts, email communications and presentations.Multi-lingual skills appreciated. Spanish language proficient desired.
  • Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience preferred.
