WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER
The Nature Conservancy envisions a New York where floodplains and shorelines function naturally and dynamically, and people are safe from the impacts of rising water and eroding lands. We work to accomplish this vision by protecting floodplains and shorelines from new development and hardening as well as restoring natural function to degraded floodplains and shorelines, which often involves making way for water.
The Climate Adaptation Practitioner supports the New York Division Climate Adaptation Team to test and implement solutions to the climate impacts facing New Yorkers, with a focus on flooding. They support the Climate Adaptation Director and other team members, coordinate projects, and participate in work to learn about and address critical threats to natural ecosystems and people. They implement conservation strategies and help to coordinate community participation and partnerships with conservations organizations. They may interact with local governments and community members and will need to be a good communicator. All member of this team must be flexible and willing to pitch in on a wide variety of tasks to keep our work moving forward.
