The Conservation Information Manager II manages and maintains conservation databases and provides technical support in GIS or other relational database technologies to Conservancy staff. The Conservation Information Manager II processes spatial and/or relational data sets derived from cartographic and tabular source material. They perform data analysis and produces reports, provides hardware and software support, and trains staff. They build, maintain, and populate data and records databases and manual files, produce maps and/or other graphic products and reports, and develop and maintain GIS library and/or database products library. May work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain and under physically demanding circumstances.

Do you like data, programming, and maps but also crave contributing to conservation goals? Are you a problem solver that is detail-oriented, comfortable with complex data challenges, and can see projects through from data to collection to data visualization?

We seek candidates who bring new perspectives to our team of conservation professionals. The Conservation Information Manager (CIM) is part of the protection team and will also interact with colleagues in legal, operations and land stewardship within our three-state team that includes Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota. The CIM will have two primary roles, maintaining organized, accessible, and up-to-date data systems and working with our protection team to prepare project packages.

The position is located in Minneapolis MN. The preferred start date for this role is the end of March 2023. The anticipated salary range for this position is $50,000-$61,000/year.


  • Associates degree in related field and 2 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience managing, maintaining, and populating databases and manual files.
  • Experience with producing maps and/or other graphic products and reports and operating GIS software.
  • Experience analyzing, building, populating, and producing reports from databases.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and web browsers.
