WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER


The Associate Director, Donor Engagement (Development Program Manager II) connects supporters and prospective supporters to TNC’s mission by leading the North Carolina Chapter’s Philanthropy communications, special events, and Legacy Club programs. Programs and planning should align with TNC’s values and take staff capacity into account. This position reports to the North Carolina Chapter’s Director of Philanthropy.


The Associate Director, Donor Engagement (Development Program Manager II) will:

  • Conceptualize and implement—in close collaboration with Philanthropy, Communications & Marketing, and Conservation staff—a portfolio of donor engagement initiatives designed to meet Chapter and organizational fundraising needs, including leading collaborative planning processes, completing and/or overseeing day-to-day tasks to implement programs, reporting out on progress, and facilitating continuous improvement through regular assessment.
  • Oversee, manage and implement Philanthropy special events program, a portfolio of in-person and virtual special events and field trips designed to connect donors and prospective supporters to TNC’s mission and to encourage annual and forward-thinking financial support.
  • Oversee, manage and implement donor communications program that integrates and aligns philanthropy program messaging with TNC’s core conservation mission. Develops printed and digital collateral materials (e.g., mail program templates, fact sheets, proposals and reports, newsletter ads, emails to various donor groups, e-cards, etc.) to inspire and promote support of TNC programs. Co-supervise a part-time communications staff member in the design and production of communications materials. Coordinate and co-develop social media communications materials pertinent to TNC’s fundraising goals and programs.
  • Oversee and manage North Carolina Legacy Club program, including collaboration and partnership with TNC’s global gift planning team that works to secure estate and other future-oriented gifts to support TNC’s conservation mission. Coordinates with global Legacy Club team, and oversees and manages quarterly communications and event programs for Legacy Club members. Conducts outreach and stewardship of Legacy Club members (e.g., thank you phone calls, thank you notes, etc.).

RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE

  • Accountability for strategic goals related to functional area.
  • Acts independently and in supervisor’s stead as needed, exercises independent judgment to identify and solve problems.
  • Co-supervises one part-time staff member, and periodically supervises interns and volunteers.
  • Decisions may bind the organization financially or legally.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity in handling confidential information.
  • Demonstrates commitment to TNC’s core values.
  • Develops and implements new initiatives that will ensure department and organization-wide goals and strategies are achieved.
  • Ensures programmatic commitments, TNC policies and procedures, financial standards, and legal requirements are met and managed for compliance.
  • Financial responsibility includes assisting with the development of event budgets, working within budgets, and negotiating and contracting with vendors.
  • Interacts professionally with staff, donors, and partners at all levels, including stewardship of trustees and high-level donors.
  • Manages and implements multiple projects, including project budgets, setting deadlines, and ensuring accountability.
  • Manages or participates in complex negotiations.
  • Participates in regular professional development to build and hone TNC competencies and managerial skills.
  • Travels occasionally, works long and flexible hours as needed.
  • Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain.
  • Work is diversified and may not always fall under established practices and guidelines.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years related experience or equivalent combination.
  • Experience managing and implementing multiple projects.
  • Experience negotiating agreements.
  • Experience supervising staff, interns, and/or volunteers.
  • Experience with current and evolving technology in relevant field.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience, coursework, or other training in principles and practices of relevant field.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
  • Ability to manage and implement complex processes.
  • Ability to work in partnership with others in a collaborative role.
  • Advanced knowledge in current and evolving technology related to field of experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to conceive and write creatively for various audiences.
  • Knowledge of current and evolving trends in the specific field, preferably in a non-profit environment.
  • Proficient in interpreting guidelines and manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting data.
  • Strong organization, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Successful experience implementing strategic program goals.
  • Understanding of accounting practices.

SALARY INFORMATION


The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $86,510 - $91,785 for annual base salary. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
