Nature Conservancy India Solutions Private Limited (NCIS) is a Private Limited Company incorporated under The Companies Act, 2013 in December 2020. It is a subsidiary of The Nature Conservancy, one of the largest not-for-profit conservation organizations in the world. NCIS’ registered office is at 37, Second Floor, Link Road, Lajpat Nagar- III New Delhi-110024, India. NCIS was incorporated with the objective of providing research, consulting, technical support, and advisory services to various stakeholders in and outside India relating to conservation of nature, environment, biodiversity, and climate change.

The position of Programme Lead for Renewable Energy (Lead RE) advances strategic technical and scientific practices to conservation challenges and provides scientific support and leadership as a subject matter expert (SME). S/he will also provide strategic thinking on renewable energy and support key initiatives within our conservation program (focused on freshwater conservation, landscape restoration, and other programs) and may lead independent science-based assessments or projects. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to strengthen and expand ongoing renewable energy projects, and drive the knowledge agenda within India and beyond. This is senior level position within TNC in India (NCIS)

WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOU


Roles and responsibilities:

  • Manage ongoing Renewable Energy (RE) projects in collaboration with partners and the TNC network, reporting to the Director of Programs.
  • Interact with senior representatives from government agencies (national and state level), Renewable Energy (RE) institutions, and relevant private sector to expand networks and raise visibility of our work.
  • Lead and participate in renewable energy analytical projects, addressing emerging conservation issues.
  • Develop the next phase of our RE strategy and drive the process for identifying new and strategic research priorities that are well-aligned with government of India’s priorities and targets
  • Collaborate with TNC staff and partners to conceive and implement Renewable Energy (RE) initiatives.
  • Work globally with the renewable energy community to enhance conservation practices. Participate in conferences at the national, regional and global level – representing and showcasing our RE work.
  • Build and expand our team to help grow our programs, while also providing mentoring to more junior staff. Manage team performance, development, and objectives.
  • Be part of our India Leadership Team to guide the overall growth and impact of our climate and conservation work.
  • Lead on reporting and outreach for the Renewable Energy (RE) Program, including to support new business development

WHAT YOU'LL BRING


Minimum Qualifications

  • MTech or MSc in Renewable Energy, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in renewable energy.
  • Experience in developing, managing, and executing large-scale renewable energy projects.
  • Experience in working with international organizations, government agencies, and stakeholders.
  • Deep expertise in renewable energy technologies (solar, wind, hydro, bioenergy).
  • Proficiency in energy policy and regulation.
  • Competence in data analysis and energy modeling.
  • Experience utilizing tools and techniques for assessing RE potential.
  • Experience in supporting strategic programs and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Communicates effectively in English (written and spoken) and at least one Indian language
  • Produces well-structured and comprehensive research proposals.
  • Experience in handling complex projects, including financial aspects and coordination with peers and partners.


Desired Qualifications

  • Preferred: PhD, MTech, MSc in Renewable Energy, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field with a minimum of 10-15 years of supervisory experience.
  • Exposure to development sector and Renewable Energy (RE) projects (concept to commissioning).
  • Team management experience with Strong network and connections.
  • On-ground implementation expertise in utility-scale solar projects.
  • Familiarity with Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP), and Environmental health and safety (EHS) procedures.
  • Candidates have Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Projects, Primavera, Smartsheet).
  • Knowledge of Renewable Energy (RE) characteristics (solar, wind, biomass).
  • Understanding of global and national Renewable Energy (RE) policies, project cycle management, financing, and market analysis.
  • Awareness of social, economic, and ecological impacts of Renewable Energy (RE) projects in India.
  • Familiarity with geospatial tools.
  • Experience conducting Environmental Impact Analysis.
  • Strategic thinking and advanced analytical abilities.
  • International experience and team management skills.
