WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER


The Energy Associate supports Europe Renewable Energy strategy by assisting with and/or managing priority projects and serves as a technical resource on the relevant priority projects. They assist in the outreach, development, and management of strategic partnerships with companies, academics, think tanks and other stakeholders active in accelerating European renewable energy deployment – with a focus on siting technicians and energy market actors. The Energy Associate works with the Europe and Global Renewable Energy Program members to design, implement, and direct projects, build and facilitate internal and external networks, conduct research and analysis, write reports, and conduct presentations and other activities in support of the team’s efforts. Some travel will be required.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provides strategic analysis in support of the conservation agenda for renewable energy deployment in Europe.
  • Provides economic analysis of conservation opportunities related to renewable energy infrastructure siting and markets.
  • Designs, implements and directs complex and diverse projects encompassing multiple work strands.
  • Incorporates cross-disciplinary knowledge to support program objectives.
  • Advices the team for strategic decisions based on analysis, experience and context.
  • Represents TNC in academic and industry partnerships, conferences, and other external forums.
  • Develops reports, presentations and assessments on topics related to renewable energy – notably on grids, renewable energy procurement and permitting.
  • Serves as a team leader for assigned projects.
  • Works within a budget to complete projects, assists with budget planning and reporting.
  • Requires willingness and ability to travel up to 25% both domestically and internationally.

We’re looking for someone with strong experience in leading a diverse, multi-disciplinary. The ideal candidate should have exceptional communication and collaboration skills and experience designing, organizing, and directing complex projects. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the ongoing mission of conservation.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Social Sciences, Policy, Resource Management or related field and 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination.
  • Experience working in the climate and/or energy sector
  • Experience supporting complex projects and strategic initiatives in an unstructured environment.
  • Analytical and project management experience.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in European energy topics is highly desired.
  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
  • Experience in renewable energy siting, development and/or procurement policies and processes is an asset.
  • Critical analytical thinking and excellent English writing skills are essential.
  • Self-starter with ability to generate work plans with limited support in line with the overall conservation strategies.
  • Experience contributing to business plans or major strategy assessments.
  • Willingness to learn and develop expertise in new conservation strategies, economic drivers, management tools, and global affairs.
  • Strong team player with political savvy who can build relationships and work collaboratively across the organization and with partners.
  • Experience in coalition-building and/or managing multi-sectoral partnerships.
  • Ability to develop and drive new ideas and approaches.
  • Ability to work well in a highly matrixed, decentralized and collaborative organization.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet time sensitive deadlines.
  • NGO and/or corporate relations experience.
  • Knowledge about energy scenarios and modelling is desirable
