As the Donor Communications Specialist, you are creative, able to effectively message complex conservation programs and projects in compelling and understandable ways, organized, and have impeccable project management skills. In this role, you will be responsible for creating communications materials to support the fundraising and marketing goals of the Colorado Development and Marketing Teams. You will write, edit, and utilize creative design tools and platforms to produce a variety of materials including donor grant proposals, reports, fact sheets, annual reports, website copy, acknowledgement letters, event talking points and other collateral. You report to the Senior Associate Director of Philanthropy on the Colorado Development Team and coordinate regularly with the Director of Marketing.

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and 2 years related experience or equivalent combination.
  • Experience writing or editing one or more of the following: grants newsletter, magazine, annual report, web-site articles/stories, donor profiles, presidential acknowledgment letters, campaign brochures, funding proposals, fact sheets, presentations, or equivalent.
  • Experience coordinating multiple projects.


  • Experience writing compelling and clear fundraising communications.
  • Experience coordinating multiple projects and team members.
  • Experience working across departments.
  • Experience with current technology supporting writing, editing and/or graphic design.
  • Experience, coursework, or other training in principles and practices of writing/editing/design for donor and/or other similar audiences.
  • Knowledge and application of current and evolving trends in major-gift fundraising and working with institutional funders.
  • Experience with visual design concepts and best practices,
  • Experience with InDesign or other graphic design programs and communication technologies and best practices
  • Experience adapting to changing priorities, timelines, and messaging.
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experiences are appreciated
  • Experience creating and meeting deadlines and keeping team members on schedule
  • Experience presenting to diverse audiences.

This position requires a valid driver's license and compliance with TNC’s Auto Safety Program. Employment in this position will be contingent upon completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement, which may include a review of the prospective employee's motor vehicle record.


The estimated starting salary for this position is dependent on qualifications, experience, and location. The starting salary is $50,000 - $62,000 annually.
