WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER


The Development Writer is responsible for researching, editing, and writing myriad types of philanthropy materials ranging from grant proposals seeking potential individual, corporate, and government funding to acknowledgements and marketing materials. Works closely with TNC program staff and fundraisers to identify fundable priority work and grant-funding opportunities. Responsible for writing annual member solicitations, gift acknowledgements, and other philanthropy materials as needed. Also responsible for supporting website, email and social media content. Monitors activities of grant-funded programs to ensure compliance with donors’ requests and produces or coordinates the production of required reports. May work with grants specialist or administrator to structure, track, and report on grant programs, both public and privately funded. The Writer will be a part of the Montana development team, will work closely with the communications team, and will work within a broad spectrum of fundraising and marketing responsibilities. The beginning salary range is $53,000 - $55,000 depending on experience.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing or similar field and a minimum of 2 year’s related experience or an equivalent combination.
  • Experience building relationships with staff, customers or similar.
  • Experience generating reports and interpreting data.
  • Experience in business writing, editing, and proofreading.
  • Experience, coursework, or other training in fundraising principles & practices of relevant field.
  • Experience using word-processing, spreadsheet software, and navigating the Internet.
  • Experience coordinating projects.
  • Experience in grant writing.
  • Experience working across teams.
  • Experience with databases and spreadsheet software.
  • Strong organization skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
