WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER
The Altamaha Stewardship Coordinator (ASC) performs and participates in stewardship operations on both TNC preserves and partner lands in conjunction with state, federal, and non-profit partners. Work includes the maintenance, management, development and coordination of conservation programs with an emphasis on prescribed fire.
The Altamaha Stewardship Coordinator leads work teams comprised of both TNC and external partner employees to ensure the coordination, community support and implementation of management plans on protected lands. The ASC maintains and manages partner relationships, contracts, and preserve areas frequented by the visiting public, removes exotic species and/or monitors and researches species, maintains tools and equipment, operates heavy machinery, and opens and closes preserve to the visiting public. May work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain and under physically demanding circumstances.

TNC currently owns and manages some 26,000 acres in Georgia, including the conservation project area in the Altamaha River Basin. From the mountains to the sea, the Georgia Chapter is dedicated to conserving the natural resources that make Georgia unique. This is an exceptional career opportunity for a highly motivated, capable individual interested in joining the world’s leading conservation organization!
This position will report to the Altamaha Stewardship Program Manager and is based out of the Moody Forest Natural Area in Appling County. The compensation range is $45,900-$48,000 and is commensurate with skills and experience. The position is term limited and funded for two years.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- BA/BS/AS/Technical or vocational degree in science-related field and 1 year related experience in custodial and ecological land management or similar field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in the management of natural systems, particularly longleaf pine.
- Experience in ecological land management principles, habitat restoration, and flora/fauna identification.
- Experience operating and or repairing various types of equipment and machinery.
- Must have a valid driver's license. Please indicate this in your resume.

This position requires a valid driver's license and compliance with the Conservancy's Auto Safety Program. Employees may not drive Conservancy-owned/leased vehicles, rental cars, or personal vehicles on behalf of the Conservancy if considered "high risk drivers."
