WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER
The Membership Systems Specialist is responsible for operational and business process support, and data integrity required to enable effective Membership operations and fundraising programs. This position is responsible for executing daily and weekly tasks related to data integrity and support for Membership fundraising programs. The position has primary responsibility for responding to and leading the resolution of systems, data or process issues affecting the membership team. In addition, the role will support the identification of operational bottlenecks, redundancies, vulnerabilities and opportunities for enhanced efficiency or effectiveness, provide recommendations for process and procedure improvement, and act as a resource to the membership team on these topics.
The Membership Systems Specialist will provide support to senior membership operations team members and the membership fundraising program staff. The role includes doing both daily routine tasks (ongoing operations) and project-based tasks like requirements analysis, process documentation and project coordination. The Membership Department is on a path to transforming our process and technologies from manual-based ways of working to greater automation and efficiency. TNC is seeking candidates who can both execute current state routines and processes while also being an innovation agent in concepting and implementing new, more efficient ways of working.
The Membership Systems Specialist will work with membership program managers, membership analytics, other departments and external vendors as a dedicated function with clear responsibility for ongoing support of:
- Monitoring data processes and the data quality and integrity as it relates to fundraising efforts;
- Creating and maintaining documentation on system processes, as well as managing and conducting quality controls and assurance on processes;
- Identifying and reporting issues, and in most cases, responsible for diagnosing and leading resolution;
- Using SQL to pull data for analysis or researching data issues;
- Managing data processes and systems to enable accurate and compliant solicitation, cultivation, stewardship and gift acknowledgement of current and prospective donors; and
- Ensuring compliance to data hygiene; privacy and security protocols.
The Membership System Specialist is accountable for resolving incidents reported on operational systems used by Membership. They lead cross-organizational, cross-functional teams that may span multiple TNC departments and TIS (Technology Information Systems) units, as well as vendors. The Membership Systems Specialist monitors and measures project progress, conducts corrective action as necessary, communicates project status information to all stakeholders, performs risk management, issue resolution that includes troubleshooting and investigating issues and conflict management, and controls project scope and quality.
The Specialist will take on additional duties as assigned to support the success of membership fundraising programs from launch, to maintenance, to continued enhancement including, but not limited to: research of industry systems, solutions and best practices; developing documentation; providing recommendations; and developing and delivering targeted training related to their functional area of the team.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in related field and 5 years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience cultivating and managing internal and external client/customer relationships.
- Experience writing, editing and proofreading.
- Experience organizing and coordinating multiple tasks and projects.
- Experience with constituent management systems and relational databases.
- Experience assisting business users with resolving technical, data quality and business process incidents.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS (do not need to meet all desired qualification)
- Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience are appreciated.
- Critical thinker with demonstrated problem-solving skills. Results driven.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex medium projects in a large, decentralized organization.
- Effectively communicates via presentations, conversations and documents.
- Experience with nonprofit marketing solutions such as Engaging Networks and Blackbaud’s BBCRM
- Experience with basic SQL query building skills
- Familiarity with direct response marketing programs. Nonprofit and advocacy programs a plus.
- General knowledge of data warehousing and ETL processes
- Strong dedication to the development of customer-centric standards and solutions.
- Well versed in industry best practices, and an ability to adapt them to TNC’s organization and culture.
