As a science-based organization, we develop innovative, on-the-ground solutions to the world’s toughest environmental challenges so that people and nature can thrive. Our work is guided by our values, which include a commitment to diversity and respect for people, communities, and cultures. From a rewarding mission to career development and flexible schedules, there are many reasons to love life #insideTNC. Want to know more? One of TNC’s primary goals is to cultivate an inclusive work environment so that employees around the globe have a sense of belonging and feel that their unique contributions are valued. We know we’ll only achieve our mission by hiring and engaging a diverse staff that reflects the communities in which we work. Recognizing that people bring talent and skills that have been developed outside the scope of a job, we take a holistic approach to recruitment that considers life experience in addition to the professional requirements listed in our postings. Please apply – we’d love to hear from you. To quote a popular saying at TNC, “you’ll join for the mission, and you’ll stay for the people.”

WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

The Finance and Information Specialist will support the financial and operational activities of TNC’s Corporate Insurance Program, which manages TNC’s insurance coverages to protect TNC’s assets, personnel, and activities globally. The Finance and Information Specialist will report to, and act as back-up for, the Senior Finance and Information Manager.

The Finance and Information Specialist will work towards meeting the strategic priorities of the Corporate Insurance team by implementing tactics for approved plans and executing financial and operational tasks with excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through. Their financial responsibility may include purchasing, processing invoices, recording checks, assisting with budget preparation, and monitoring various insurance funds and reimbursements. Their information management responsibility will include gathering, maintaining, and reporting on key data related to the scope and priorities of the Corporate Insurance program, such as coverages, claims, exposures, and related entities. They will play a lead role in completing TNC’s annual insurance renewal applications. They will maintain and update the team’s intranet site. They will track contract and other insurance inquiries from Business Units. They will create presentation materials, draft communications, and document business processes. They will provide administrative support such as coordination for team meetings, mail routing, and file management. Finally, they will implement processes and practices to enhance team effectiveness and build resiliency.

The Finance and Information Specialist will work within scope of program’s strategic goals, act independently within broad program goals to prioritize tasks in the absence of specific instructions and exercise independent judgment to identify and solve problems, demonstrate sensitivity in handling confidential information, and ensure compliance with TNC policies and procedures, and external (donor/legal/IRS) requirements. They will manage projects with several variables - set realistic deadlines, manage a timeline, and ensure accountability, may participate in complex negotiations, and provide input through project teams for the development and implementation of new initiatives or the improvement of existing programs. They will also travel and work flexible hours, as needed. The work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain. The work is diversified and may not always fall under established practices and guidelines.
