The Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst facilitates the streamlined design, execution and implementation of effective reporting and data solutions that fulfill the requirements and strategic objectives of business areas across the Conservancy. The BI Analyst is responsible for collaborating with business SMEs and IT developers to ensure shared understanding, documenting comprehensive business and actionable technical requirements, and ensuring accuracy and functional integrity of team deliverables and work products. They proactively research and recommend creative technical and process solutions in the context of reporting and analysis.

The BI Analyst works with stakeholders and business partners with varying degrees of technical knowledge to guide them in defining their business questions and makes recommendations that improve and strengthen end products. They lead projects of limited scope requiring the need to gain consensus from and manage the work of colleagues at all levels of the organization. They perform independent analyses using a variety of tools to inform the definition of reporting requirements, key performance indicators, and metrics and to enhance the design of meaningful, user-friendly reporting solutions. They design and craft data visualizations that clearly communicate business information and inform decision-making. The BI Analyst executes quality assurance for peers and provides meaningful feedback to facilitate continuous improvement, adherence to best practices, and compliance with TNC policies and SOPs. They proactively identify, communicate, and seek to resolve issues that impact project success and/or team efficiency. The BI Analyst works within a framework that includes relational database models, data warehouses, and several reporting and visualization tools. The BI Analyst thrives in an agile execution environment focused on iteration and responsiveness.


We’re looking for a proactive, self-motivated, and team-oriented BI Analyst who is passionate about data and meticulous about documentation. This individual will have experience working with technical IT teams to effectively communicate and coordinate reporting and data model needs. They will possess excellent written and oral communication skills and be inspired by technical challenges.

The BI Analyst position is an opportunity to join an energetic team dedicated to providing business intelligence services across the Conservancy. We partner with business and IT partners to build datasets, reports, dashboards, and ad hoc analyses; as well as consult on KPI development and measuring program successes. Some tools we use are SAS Enterprise Guide, SSRS, Power BI, Azure and more. One of our current major initiatives is to build a framework for self-service, empowering our business partners to work directly on analyses and reports.


  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant technical discipline and 3 years’ experience or equivalent combination.
  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams to design, document, and implement fit for purpose technical solutions.
  • Experience using SQL or similar language and data manipulation concepts (e.g., table joins, cardinality).
  • Experience with one or more BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, QuickSight, Looker or similar.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel (e.g., functions, pivots, macros) or PowerQuery.


  • Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks and projects simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and timelines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work in partnership with all levels of staff in a collaborative or advisory role.
  • Experience communicating technical concepts and interpreting data for non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of project management concepts.
  • Experience in a non-profit business model.
