Contract Duration: 2+ years

Location: Detroit, MI (Hybrid: Onsite several days per week)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Capital Project Manager to lead mid‑to‑large‑scale renewable energy projects—including solar, wind, and energy storage—from design through construction, commissioning, and closeout. This role is a hands‑on individual contributor position with full lifecycle ownership of scope, schedule, budget, and contractor coordination.

This is not an IT Project Manager role!

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end delivery of renewable energy capital projects.
• Oversee project planning, engineering/design coordination, and construction execution.
• Maintain accountability for budget, schedule, scope, and risk mitigation.
• Lead contractor and vendor coordination, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance.
• Support commissioning, project closeout, and documentation deliverables.
• Collaborate with internal cross‑functional teams and external partners.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must meet all of the following:

Experience

• Experience delivering renewable energy projects (solar, wind, or BESS).
• Large‑scale construction or utility project background.
• Demonstrated project lifecycle ownership (planning → construction → closeout).
• Direct, hands‑on involvement during construction phases.
• Budget and schedule management experience.
• Contractor and vendor management expertise.

Minimum Education & Experience Pathways (one of the following):

• Bachelor’s degree + 6 years project management experience
• OR Associate Degree + 8 years project management experience
• OR High School Diploma + 10 years project management experience

Within that experience:

• 2+ years working on large‑scale construction or utility projects
• 6+ months working on renewable energy projects

Preferred Qualifications

• PMP or similar project management certification
• Experience on utility‑scale renewable energy projects
• EPC contractor oversight experience
• Experience in union labor environments
• Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) project exposure
• Owner’s representative experience

Ideal Candidate Profile

• 7–15 years total project management experience
• 2+ years experience in renewable energy strongly preferred
• Background managing multi‑million‑dollar capital projects
• Field‑heavy or construction‑focused work history
• Comfortable coordinating with contractors, engineering teams, and field staff
