Project Manager
Project Manager – Commercial Solar PV
Greater Manchester | Off-site and on-site
We’re a family-owned renewable energy business in Greater Manchester. We design, install and maintain Solar PV systems for local authorities, schools, colleges, academy trusts and commercial clients. Over 20 years we’ve built our reputation on technical excellence, integrity and long-term relationships rather than chasing volume.
We’re growing, and we’re looking for a Project Manager to take ownership of a busy, varied portfolio of commercial solar PV projects.
The role
You’ll manage projects from planning through to successful completion. That means looking after programs, documentation, resources and client communication, and also getting out to site to work with installation teams and resolve practical issues. Our work is mainly in the public sector and education markets, and we’re building our private commercial offering. Multi-site programs are increasingly common, with up to four sites running at once.
You’ll have strong support around you, including a capable Degree Apprentice, whom you’ll guide and mentor day to day, and an experienced business support team.
Success here isn’t only about finishing projects. It’s about giving customers an excellent experience so they choose to work with us again.
About you
You’re highly organised, proactive and enthusiastic. You keep sight of the bigger picture without losing the detail, and you spot issues early and act before they affect program, quality or the customer. You’re calm under pressure, solutions-focused and comfortable making decisions. You also enjoy being part of a close-knit team.
Essential
- A relevant qualification or demonstrable professional experience in construction, electrical engineering, project management or a related discipline
- Proven experience managing projects and coordinating on-site teams and subcontractors
- Strong planning, programming, coordination and organisational skills
- The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities at once
- Confidence working both in an office or off-site planning environment and on operational sites
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients, site teams, subcontractors and colleagues
- Leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, support and mentor others
- A commitment to health and safety, quality and consistently high standards
- High levels of integrity, accountability and attention to detail
Desirable
- SMSTS or SSSTS
- Experience in solar PV, renewable energy, electrical or wider construction
- Experience delivering commercial-scale or public-sector projects
- Experience coordinating multi-site programs
- Experience working in live environments such as schools, public buildings or commercial premises
Our culture
We’re a collaborative, low-ego team where relationships matter more than hierarchy. We want everyone to feel seen, known, heard, valued and supported. We encourage initiative, reward hard work and invest in training and development, and we currently employ four apprentices. Cultural fit matters to us as much as capability.
What we offer
- Salary of £35,000 – £45,000
- Annual profit-related bonus, based on salary and length of service
- Company pool vehicle
- NEST workplace pension
- Flexible working considered
- 30 days’ annual leave plus UK bank holidays, including 5 days over the Christmas shutdown
If you’d like to take ownership of quality solar projects and grow with a business that values its people, we’d love to hear from you.
