Project Manager – Construction | PV & BESS | Germany

Location: Germany

Travel: Regular travel to project sites, typically around once per week

Salary: €80,000–€85,000 base + potential bonus

Sector: Renewable Energy | Solar PV & Battery Energy Storage

The Opportunity

We are supporting a growing renewable-energy platform with an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to take responsibility for the successful delivery of utility-scale renewable energy projects across Germany.

The role is focused on the construction and implementation phase of ground-mounted solar PV projects, with additional exposure to Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and other renewable-energy developments.

You will be responsible for keeping projects on track across schedule, budget, quality and contractor performance, acting as the key link between project teams, contractors, consultants and other stakeholders.

This is a hands-on role for someone who likes to be close to the project: visiting sites, understanding what is happening on the ground, challenging progress where necessary and ensuring that actions are followed through.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take overall responsibility for the successful implementation and construction of renewable-energy projects.
  • Monitor project progress against programme, budget, quality and contractual requirements.
  • Regularly visit construction sites and work closely with site management, supervisors and contractors.
  • Coordinate and manage multiple contractors and external service providers simultaneously.
  • Review construction progress, identify issues and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Coordinate technical matters with internal engineering and project teams.
  • Support contractor management, performance monitoring and commercial discussions.
  • Coordinate external engineering firms, consultants and subcontractors.
  • Apply and monitor appropriate quality-control procedures throughout construction.
  • Identify project risks and implement measures to mitigate them.
  • Coordinate testing, acceptance and handover activities at project completion.
  • Maintain clear project documentation and provide regular progress reporting to senior management.
  • Manage communication between internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Support coordination with authorities, consultants, landowners, developers and other project stakeholders where required.
  • Contribute to the delivery of future PV and BESS projects as the development and construction pipeline continues to grow.

What We're Looking For

  • At least 5 years of project management experience, ideally within renewable energy, construction or infrastructure.
  • Proven experience managing utility-scale solar PV construction projects.
  • Ideally, hands-on experience delivering at least one ground-mounted PV project from construction through completion.
  • Around 3+ years of experience specifically within PV construction would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of construction project management, including schedule, budget, quality, risk and contractor management.
  • Experience managing several contractors and workstreams at the same time.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach and the ability to stay on top of multiple moving parts.
  • Willingness to regularly travel to construction sites in Germany.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Fluent/native-level German is required due to the local project environment and stakeholder interaction.
  • English skills are beneficial for working with wider project and technical teams.

The Person

This role would suit a Project Manager who is comfortable moving between the office, construction site and contractor meetings and who doesn't wait for problems to become visible in a report before taking action.

You are likely to be someone who:

  • Takes ownership and follows things through.
  • Is comfortable challenging contractors and holding them accountable.
  • Can quickly identify when a project is moving away from plan.
  • Communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Enjoys working in a fast-moving renewable-energy environment.
  • Can manage competing priorities without losing sight of the overall project objectives.

What You Can Expect

  • Opportunity to take ownership of large-scale renewable-energy construction projects.
  • Exposure to both solar PV and BESS.
  • A growing project pipeline across Germany.
  • A hands-on position with significant visibility and responsibility.
  • Competitive salary of €80,000–€85,000, with potential bonus opportunity.
  • A role offering long-term development as the company's German renewable portfolio continues to expand.

Interview Process

The process is expected to consist of three stages:

  1. Initial interview
  2. Interview with the senior hiring manager responsible for implementation in Germany
  3. Final in-person interview
