Project Development Manager – BESS | Berlin


I’m currently supporting a fast-growing BESS developer in Germany with the appointment of a Senior Project Manager / Project Developer to take ownership of projects through the late-stage development phase and towards financial close.


This is a senior, hands-on role for someone with strong experience across the German renewable energy or BESS market, who can bring together the commercial, technical, legal and financing workstreams required to move large-scale projects towards construction.


The role

  • Lead large-scale BESS projects through late-stage development and financial close
  • Take ownership of key development workstreams, including permitting, grid connection, due diligence and financing
  • Lead and support negotiations on key commercial and project contracts
  • Coordinate internal teams and external advisors across technical, legal, financial and development workstreams
  • Manage relationships with lenders, partners, authorities and other key stakeholders
  • Identify and resolve project risks to keep development timelines and commercial objectives on track


What they’re looking for

  • Strong experience developing utility-scale renewable energy or BESS projects in Germany
  • Proven track record of taking projects through late-stage development / financial close
  • Good understanding of project finance, grid connection and permitting in the German market
  • Experience managing and negotiating commercial contracts
  • Strong stakeholder management skills across technical, legal and financial functions
  • Entrepreneurial, commercially minded approach with the ability to take ownership in a fast-moving environment
  • Fluent German and English
