Business Development Intern
About The Green Branch
The Green Branch (TGB) is Amsterdam based growing start-up on a mission to mobilise private capital for large-scale reforestation in heavily deforested regions. We develop, structure and finance reforestation projects that generate returns through agroforestry models, sustainable timber production, and carbon finance, combining environmental impact with commercially viable business models.
We currently have three active projects, two in Brazil and one in Tanzania. We are actively expanding our pipeline with new opportunities.
The role
To make our projects succeed, we need to keep scaling our engagement with large corporate clients. TGB continuously supports clients in achieving their net-zero strategies, having ongoing conversations about their decarbonisation pathway and how TGB's reforestation projects can contribute through high-quality carbon removal.
We are now looking for a business development intern to help us grow and manage this client engagement. You will work directly with our business development team on live outreach, client conversations and commercial materials. This is a hands-on role with real responsibility from day one.
What you will work on
• Work directly with business development lead to create new business and talk to corporate clients: engage prospects, follow up on leads and help convert conversations into deals.
• Turn complex sustainability obligations into tangible business cases: supporting SBTi-committed companies to understand how TGB’s projects fit their net-zero pathway and why acting now matters.
• Help to shape TGB’s external communication strategy: Create pitch decks, marketing materials and other communications for TGB's external channels.
• Contribute to TGB's thought leadership by: writing about carbon market insights, SBTi developments, corporate sustainability trends and nature-based solutions.
What we are looking for
• You are sociable, build rapport easily and enjoy meeting people.
• You are available to come to our office at least 2-3 days per week.
• Background in economics, business, or a related field (Bachelor's or Master's level).
• Genuine interest in sustainability, climate change, or the voluntary carbon market.
• Intrinsically motivated to make a positive impact.
• Strong written communication in English: you can translate complex topics into clear, engaging prose.
• Proactive and self-directed: you take initiative and don't wait to be told what to do.
• Experience with or curiosity about corporate sustainability frameworks (SBTi, net-zero, Scope 3) is a plus.
• Prior internship or project experience in a commercial or sustainability-related role is an advantage, but not required.
What we offer
• A front-row seat to the rapidly growing voluntary carbon market and nature-based solutions sector.
• Real exposure to business development, investor relations, and corporate sustainability conversations, including on-site client visits.
• A small, international and passionate team of 13 where your contribution is visible and valued.
• Flexible working arrangements (Amsterdam-based; remote partially possible).
• Internship allowance provided.
