The Associate, Climate Action, will support the Senior Manager, Climate Action in overseeing The Estée Lauder Companies climate data and the day-to-day work of the Climate focus area with the Global Corporate Citizenship and Sustainability team. ELC is continuously improving the quality of our climate data and the processes for collection and management with an eye towards public disclosure, assurance, and emerging regulatory reporting requirements. The climate team also focuses on executing against enterprise-wide sustainability goals and priorities. This role will contribute to both program areas, including essential data skills to improve the quality, availability, and usability of our emissions data across all scopes and the larger team’s priority of supporting the business to achieve public-facing climate goals.
Climate measurement, reporting, and management (60%)
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $73,000.00 to $109,000.00. Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with the possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results.

Climate measurement, reporting, and management (60%)
- Support ELC’s greenhouse gas inventory (GHG) and climate reporting including corporate reports, EV100, RE100 and CDP including but not limited to working with SMEs across the business to collect data in a timely manner, review data for quality standards, cleanse data to prepare for inventory
- Support in managing the relationship with external GHG inventory service providers
- Ensure excellent assurance-ready data quality by following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and updating/maintaining SOPs and risk controls matrices to reflect refinements in processes and methodologies
- Coordinate communication across external GHG inventory service providers and the climate team to ensure the accurate calculation of GHG emissions
- Help develop and execute best-in-class climate data processes, tools and outputs to support various ad hoc business requests
- Produce novel insights from climate data to aid in emissions reductions and other areas of climate action
- Support maintenance and improvement of emissions impact models, particularly related to science-based target achievement
- Monitor progress of ELC’s VPPA, including support in managing the relationship with consulting partner
- Support reporting for ELC’s public 100% electric vehicle commitment
- Support reporting for ELC’s public 100% renewable electricity commitment
- Conduct EAC and carbon credit purchases in line with ELC climate commitments
- Support strategy for the intersection of people and climate, including goal development, external statements, and risk management actions
- Lead management of POs and invoicing for the team to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with financial controls
- Monitor spend within approved budgets; track performance via quarterly reconciliation from finance team and monthly reviews with the climate/planet team
- Excellent understanding of carbon accounting including standards and applications including the GHG Protocol, CDP, Scope 3 accounting, and life cycle assessment
- Strong leadership skills, fostering collaboration across diverse teams and stakeholders
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities, enabling the candidate to assess variables, anticipate challenges, and implement innovative solutions
- Experience with data management platforms and applications related to sustainability such as advanced Excel, Power BI, and Sphera
- Additional subject matter expertise across ELC focus areas a plus, including energy efficiency, renewable energy, sustainability management, reporting and transparency and/or supply chain
- Experience working in a multi-branded retail company or other industry with high-profile consumer brands a plus
- Well-developed interpersonal skills for high-level interaction with other functions and brands
- Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills, including communicating and marketing sustainability efforts
- Capacity to work and thrive in a growing, fast-paced entrepreneurial organization within a collaborative environment
- Highly analytical, can synthesize information and offer recommendations/solutions
- Fluent in both written and conversational English; fluency in a second language an advantage
