Climate Scientist / Climate Risk Expert
About The Climate & Conservation Consortium
The Climate & Conservation Consortium (CCC) is a specialist climate advisory and sustainability services firm working with corporates, financial institutions, and public-sector stakeholders to translate climate science into actionable strategy. Our work spans climate risk, decarbonisation, conservation finance, and ESG-aligned transformation across emerging and developed markets.
As demand grows for science-based climate risk intelligence within the private sector, CCC is expanding its technical team to embed advanced climate forecasting and physical risk analysis into business, investment, and policy decisions.
The Role
We are seeking a Climate Scientist / Climate Risk Expert to lead the integration of climate modelling, projections, and scenario analysis into CCC’s risk advisory and decision-support offerings for the business sector.
This role sits at the intersection of climate science, risk analytics, and commercial application, translating complex climate data into insights that inform corporate strategy, asset planning, financial risk management, and resilience building.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply climate models, projections, and datasets (e.g. temperature, precipitation, extreme events, sea-level rise) to assess physical climate risks for businesses, infrastructure, and supply chains
- Translate climate forecasting outputs into business-relevant risk metrics, scenarios, and narratives aligned with enterprise risk management frameworks
- Support TCFD / IFRS S2-aligned physical risk assessments, climate stress testing, and scenario analysis for corporates and financial institutions
- Integrate climate science into sectoral and asset-level risk analysis (energy, apparel, agriculture, tourism, real estate, manufacturing, etc.)
- Collaborate with sustainability, finance, and policy specialists to embed climate risk into strategic planning, investment appraisal, and adaptation planning
- Contribute to the development of proprietary tools, methodologies, and decision frameworks that bridge climate science and business strategy
- Support client engagements through technical reports, visualisations, executive briefings, and stakeholder workshops
Candidate Profile
Essential
- Postgraduate qualification (MSc or PhD preferred) in Climate Science, Atmospheric Science, Earth Systems Science, Environmental Modelling, or a related field
- Strong grounding in climate modelling, climate projections, and physical climate risk assessment
- Experience working with climate datasets, scenarios, and uncertainty analysis
- Ability to clearly communicate complex scientific concepts to non-technical, business, and policy audiences
Desirable
- Experience applying climate science in commercial, financial, or policy contexts
- Familiarity with climate risk disclosure frameworks (e.g. TCFD, IFRS S2)
- Exposure to sector-specific risk analysis, supply-chain risk, or asset-level assessments
- Programming or data analysis skills (e.g. Python, R, GIS, climate data platforms)
- Experience working in or with emerging markets or climate-vulnerable regions
Why Join CCC
- Shape how climate science directly informs real-world business and investment decisions
- Work at the forefront of climate risk, adaptation, and resilience advisory
- Engage with senior decision-makers across corporates, banks, and public institutions
- Be part of a mission-driven organisation translating climate ambition into measurable action
