The Thermal & Specialized Solutions segment is recognized for pioneering sustainable thermal management, having invented the category with Freon™ nearly a century ago and continually raising the bar with the Opteon™ Low GWP portfolio. The business is committed to delivering solutions that combine superior performance, safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental responsibility—supporting customers and addressing global challenges such as climate change.

We are looking for the Strategy and Market Development Leader, EMEA, responsible for driving the growth and strategic direction of the Thermal and Specialized Solutions business across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Based at the European Headquarters in Switzerland, this role reports to the EMEA Business Director and is a member of the EMEA leadership team.

Operating in a fast-paced, highly regulated industry, the position oversees strategic planning, market development, and business model innovation—including the advancement of circular economy initiatives and sustainable value chains. A strong emphasis is placed on F-Gas Quota compliance and expanding market opportunities across product lines such stationary refrigeration, air conditioning/heat pumps, automotive AC, and foam blowing agents. The Leader collaborates with equipment manufacturers, channel partners, and end users, and works cross-functionally with Sales, Product Management, R&D, Technical Service, Marketing, Advocacy, and Government Affairs to support the growth of existing products, commercialize new solutions, and develop innovative business models. The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial ready to make a significant impact in a dynamic and evolving market

The responsibility for the position includes, but not limited to, the following:

  • Strategic Planning & Decision-Making
    • Lead the design, development, and execution of regional business strategies that support global objectives, regulatory requirements and drive sustainable growth.
    • Conduct in-depth market assessments, scenario planning, and competitive analysis to identify strategic opportunities, risks, and innovation pathways.
    • Translate strategic vision into actionable roadmaps, setting clear milestones and KPIs.
    • Guide annual and long-range planning processes, fostering alignment among cross-functional and international teams.
  • Market Development & Business Model Innovation
    • Design and launch innovative business models to unlock new revenue streams and differentiate the business.
    • Identify and capitalize on growth opportunities driven by evolving regulations, technological advancements, and sustainability mandates (e.g. circular economy, low-GWP products).
    • Forge and manage strategic partnerships with equipment manufacturers, service providers, and technology firms to expand value propositions
  • Leadership, Change Management & Culture
    • Inspire, guide, and develop multidisciplinary teams to achieve strategic objectives, fostering a high-performance culture rooted in innovation, agility, and accountability.
    • Promote strong collaboration across business functions (R&D, legal, operations, sales) to accelerate execution and decision-making.
    • Represent the business at industry forums, and with key external stakeholders as the strategic voice of the EMEA organization.
Qualifications And Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in strategy, marketing, or business development, ideally within highly regulated B2B sectors (chemicals or related).
  • 2–3 years in a top-tier consulting firm is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing high-impact strategies, launching innovative business models, and leading cross-functional teams in international markets.
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, and strategic decision-making skills.
