About the role:
The Energy Transition team’s purpose is to enable the development of an affordable, secure consumer centric, flexible and decarbonised global energy system. The team do this through taking a whole system thinking approach underpinned by innovation, impartiality, and robust evidence generation. We are focused on three key topics within the Energy Transition agenda: coal transition, grid development and renewable integration.
The successful candidate will support our growth through developing new business and delivering energy transition projects that will deliver high quality and high impact advice to our Southeast Asia clients.
The ideal candidate is a passionate and motivated individual with energy market experience and strong business development and consulting skills.You will have a grasp of various electricity policies, market arrangements and regulatory frameworks and how these may evolve in the Southeast Asian region.

Main duties and responsibilities:
As the successful candidate you will drive business development by proactively pursuing sales opportunities and responding to competitive tenders, including writing bids and proposals. You will develop and strengthen relationships with key clients in the low carbon energy sector, attend conferences and external meetings, and build connections with key stakeholders.
You will also manage client projects of varying complexity from inception through to completion. This includes leading the problem-solving effort, managing analysis, research and quality assurance, overseeing project teams and the QA of subcontractors, liaising with client contacts on day-to-day project matters, and managing project budgets and finances.
You will maintain and grow a network of stakeholders, clients and partners across the low carbon energy sector, helping the Southeast Asia team meet its targets for revenue and business development activity in the Energy Transition sector by achieving your own targets.
Your success will be reflected in positive client feedback, leading to greater and more favourable Carbon Trust brand recognition, particularly in its target client markets.
Key skills we are looking for:
- Strong business development skills, the ability to build client and partner relationships and influence stakeholders and a proven ability in developing successful bids in the low carbon energy sector across a range of private and/or public sector clients in Southeast Asia
- The ability to work effectively in a matrix team environment and to take initiative and deliver projects independently when required
- Excellent project management and project delivery skills and proficiency with MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint
- Fluent English speaker (C1/C2 ideally) as well as excellent communication skills (written and oral) and the ability to lead and run workshop sessions, present to small and large audiences and write high quality reports.
Qualifications and experience:
- Degree educated (or equivalent)
- Experience of working within one or more markets in Southeast Asia, ideally Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam or Indonesia.
- Experience of working within energy transition and within technical sales
- Experience in system modelling/whole system analysis is desirable
- Experience of designing or delivering innovation projects and programmes is desirable
Salary & Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary and a performance-based bonus. Our hours are 37.5 per week with 17 days paid annual leave rising to 18 after 1 full years’ service plus bank holidays and a generous pension scheme.
This role will be based in our Singapore office, but at the Carbon Trust we offer flexibility around working from home and our employees can work from home up to 3 days per week.
