Risk Manager (ESG & Climate Risk) - ESG Risk and Oversight
Position Summary
The ESG and Climate Risk Section plays a critical role in realizing BEA’s vision to become a sustainability leader in Greater China and beyond. It supports the Risk Management Division in embedding ESG and climate risk into all risk management practices, facilitating BEA’s transition to a low-carbon economy.
Responsibilities
- Integrate ESG and climate risk considerations into the bank’s broader risk management framework, including the Risk Appetite Statement, Enterprise Risk Management framework, scenario analysis, stress testing, and climate risk strategy
- Act as a central liaison and coordination point for climate risk management, green and sustainable finance, ESG reporting, and climate risk analytics within the Risk Management Division
- Collaborate with risk controllers to enhance assessment methodologies, systems/tools, and data quality for ESG and climate risk management
- Advise business units on green and sustainable finance product development, customer ESG risk assessments, and climate risk mitigation
- Prepare and present ad-hoc MIS reports to track ESG/climate risk appetite and the progress of key ESG/climate risk initiatives
- Liaise with the regulators, internal/external auditors, consultants, and investors on ESG and climate-risk-related matters
- Keep abreast of evolving market, regulatory, and industry developments, contributing to new ESG and climate risk projects and initiatives
- Raise ESG/climate risk awareness and foster/develop ESG talent across the Bank group
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or above in Business Administration, Statistics, Environmental Science or other academic field relevant to risk management. Relevant professional qualification including HKIB qualification is a plus
- At least 3-5 years of relevant experience in banking or other financial institutions
- Experience in financial analysis, accounting, credit assessments, modelling, data analytics and visualization and/or sustainability. Experience in green and sustainable finance or climate risk management experience is a plus
- Demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication
- Excellent analytical and influencing skills
- Capable of processing high volumes of complex and evolving information, and synthesise key themes and issues
