Salary Range: Teachers at TFS are members of the Alliance des enseignants de la Toronto French School union. Salaries are determined according to a structured grid that considers years of teacher-training (college or university) and professional experience.
We have four salary levels (from D to G), each with its own minimum and maximum range:
- Level D: from $64,093 to $105,928
- Level E: from $66,082 to $112,052
- Level F: from $72,838 to $131,047
- Level G: from $76,018 to $134,292

About the position:
The primary purpose of this position is to integrate the school’s immediate green spaces, sustainability, and environmental perspectives into teaching and learning at TFS. Working collaboratively with senior leadership and reporting to the Principal, the successful candidate will design and deliver engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences aligned with the school’s pedagogical frameworks.
Teaching & Program Development (PK to Grade 1)
- Design and deliver an environmental science program for students from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 1, ensuring continuity and developmental progression
- Use an inquiry-based, experiential approach to foster curiosity, observation, and critical thinking
- Guide students in building knowledge through authentic, hands-on learning experiences
- Teach key domains including: Indigenous perspectives, living systems, matter and energy, structures and mechanisms, and Earth and space systems
- Promote environmental awareness and responsible action
- Develop and adapt teaching materials and resources to support program delivery
- Align instruction with the French Ministry of Education, Ontario curriculum, and an IB-inspired transdisciplinary framework
- Continuously evaluate and refine programming
Collaboration, Integration & School Life
- Co-teach and collaborate with homeroom teachers to integrate learning into IB PYP Units of Inquiry
- Work with teachers, outdoor education specialists, and leadership to design interdisciplinary learning experiences
- Support the integration of sustainability and Indigenous perspectives across the curriculum
- Actively participate in school life, including events (e.g., Earth Day, Carnaval d’hiver, Terry Fox, Flower Day, trips to the ravine) and duties (e.g., supervision, lunch activities, occasional coverage)
- Contribute to the development and use of school green spaces (e.g., ravine) as learning environments
Environmental Leadership & Community Engagement
- Lead co-curricular initiatives such as environmental clubs and student-led projects (e.g., Eco-School, gardening, Globe Club)
- Support and expand sustainability initiatives across the school
- Communicate regularly with members of the school community regarding environmental programs and impact
- Build partnerships with external organizations to enrich learning opportunities
- Participate in the Climate Action team (CAAP) and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
- Contribute to the ongoing development and strategic direction of environmental initiatives at TFS

- Excellent French and English skills (oral and written)
- Experience or expertise in creating learning materials and cultural awareness
- Certified teacher (OCT or equivalent) with a degree in education (B.Ed. or M.Ed.)
- Strong knowledge of and interest in environmental studies and sustainability-related issues
- Ability to model and mentor others in an environmental inquiry approach
- Open minded, flexible, collaborative and supportive approach to developing new initiatives
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
