Position Summary

The Legal Operations Manager works in the Legal team within the Operations Department and provides essential support to Textile Exchange Legal Counsel. This person is detail-oriented and possesses the ability to see connections across multiple areas of work and optimize processes, budgets, technology, and data. This position reports to Legal Counsel.


Key Responsibilities

  • Legal compliance and tracking, managing state and charitable registrations and helping identify and remediate organizational compliance risks.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and greater efficiency, and design policies and, workflows, conducting legal department audits, and managing change to improve productivity.
  • Ensure the Legal team leverages technology and innovation to improve services and reduce costs.
  • Promote continuous improvement and ensure staff are adequately trained.
  • Identify and report on metrics supporting compliance, risk management, and departmental objectives.
  • Develop an effective know-how system to capture and propagate knowledge, reducing risk and increasing efficiency.
  • Document preparation, review, tracking deadlines, managing e-signing and any verification requirements, and maintaining digital records.


Primary Duties And Responsibilities

  • Support CLM data governance to ensure data consistency, compliance, and accuracy across systems.
  • Monitor and maintain data integrity; identify and resolve data quality issues in collaboration with the Contracts Manager and Trademark and Illectual Property Senior Manager.
  • Maintain contract and other legal templates, including formatting, proofreading, storing, tracking template versions and uses.
  • Support legal policy, procedure, training, and guidance development and delivery.
  • Track contracts through the contract lifecycle, running reports and following up with other teams as necessary.
  • Conduct legal research and assist with managing legal matters, as requested.
  • Maintain legal files and communications on Textile Exchange Legal intranet site.
  • Submit invoices and assist with tracking legal expenses.
  • Maintain relationships with external organizations supporting Textile Exchange state registrations and filings, handling form and application completion, portal access, and follow-up correspondence to ensure compliance.
  • Serve as the point of contact for documentation requests and complete registration applications, and other forms as requested by Legal Counsel. Manage the legal team inbox, responding to requests, questions, and redirecting matters to Legal Counsel and other appropriate person(s).


Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare final agreements for signature and send for signature through e-signature platform in accordance with internal policies and procedures.
  • Create agreement records and file contracts and other legal and compliance documents in Textile Exchange systems, such as CRM platform (e.g., Salesforce) and cloud storage (e.g., SharePoint).
  • Conduct legal research and assist with managing legal matters, as requested.
  • Other duties as needs arise.


Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience
  • Bachelor’s degree combined with experience in legal operations, legal technology, and project management. Advanced degrees in law or MBA an added bonus.
  • Experience with data governance and data management.
  • Significant experience with contract management and working with Contract Lifecyle Management (CLM) software.
  • Experience with signing software, e.g., Adobe Sign, DocuSign.
  • Proven success in project coordination.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote setting while maintaining effective and respectful collaboration with Textile Exchange global teams and external stakeholders.
  • A strong attention to detail and solid organization skills
  • Must be willing and able to work remotely/from home and must be flexible to communicate with multiple time zones outside of standard working hours.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives and excitement about contributing to a positive work culture.
  • Curious, creative, and motivated with a passion for sustainability.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools.
  • Must be flexible to communicate with multiple time zones outside of standard working hours.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in budget management.
  • Proficiency with Saleforce CRM.
  • Experience with a mission driven international non-profit organization focused on sustainability and conservation.
  • Experience with risk management.
  • Familiarity with product mindset.


Employment Package

  • Full-Time Position, 40 Hours a Week
  • Required travel: less than 5%
  • Annual Salary Range: $75,000 - $100,000 USD
