What to Expect
The Tesla Energy Project Engineering team is responsible for the successful deployment of Tesla’s Megapack utility scale Energy Storage Systems. We’re looking for a degree-qualified, driven, motivated, and collaborative engineer to join us to help accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.
A key technical member of a cross functional team that focuses on executing utility scale battery storage projects. This is an opportunity with a broad technical scope, including office and site-based work.
You must have a genuine passion for engineering products that will fundamentally change the world’s energy infrastructure and must want to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
What You’ll Do
This is a diverse role where in-depth knowledge of generator construction projects, constructability, utility requirements, National Electricity Rules familiarity and commissioning experience is expected. A rock-solid work ethic, strong team-oriented personality and savvy commercial approach are essential. Members of our team display creativity, passion, and a desire to break new ground in a constantly shifting technology landscape. Tasks may include:
  • Negotiation of hold point test plans with NSPs and AEMO
  • Design, coordination, execution, and documentation of test plans
  • Preparation of equipment specifications and tendering
  • Design optimisation
  • Site based construction monitoring, auditing, and quality inspections
  • Fault-finding, root cause reporting, analysis of SCADA data, protection relay events
  • Balance of plant electrical subcontractor design review
  • Incorporation of lessons learnt into continuous improvement of specifications, scoping documents, processes, test report templates, automation
What You’ll Bring
  • Extreme attention to detail
  • Relevant experience as an Electrical/Project Engineer on renewable construction projects
  • Strong commercial focus
  • Operational experience with generating systems
  • Control systems knowledge and an understanding of power systems
  • Knowledge of the NEM and generator connection process
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Knowledge of electrical construction projects, including project schedules and staging of design/construction
  • Ability to read electrical drawings
  • Knowledge of relevant standards
  • Familiarity with electrical studies for utility applications
  • Knowledge of communication networking
  • Experience with PLCs and protection relays
  • Extracurricular engineering activities
