Tesla’s Engineering team is looking for an experienced & driven Project Engineer to drive improvement projects across all areas of Operations: production, engineering, maintenance, & quality. Successful candidate will be responsible for managing process improvement projects, operational excellence initiatives, & leading Operations review meetings for cell manufacturing lines.
What You'll Do
- Manage improvements activities across the Manufacturing organization (KPI improvement projects, operational excellence initiatives, major performance gaps)
- Successfully identify bottlenecks, perform problem solving, and propose improvement solutions
- Lead critical engineering production alignment discussions & interface with NPI, Operations, Process, Quality & Design teams on component/process changes
- Support production capacity studies, ramp plan, and cost reviews
- Execute quality issue resolution, and safety improvement projects
- Work with manufacturing, quality department, & support teams to establish & improve processes
- Communicating plans, plan revisions, & production vs. plan to all Manufacturing, support, & business stakeholders
- Work with finance & data analyst to deliver clear business case and projection of the impact of planned projects
- Effectively plan with Operations, Vendors, & Contractors; & facilitate expedition of projects & services to Manufacturing
- Develop robust and clear data collection, visualization, and analysis. Enable data driven operational and financial decisions through predictive insights
What You'll Bring
- 3+ year operations management experience in the battery or high-volume Manufacturing industries
- Degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience with commissioning equipment, fixtures, improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) improvement, and process flow
- Can demonstrate ability to meet deadlines & perform under high pressure
- Manage production performance metrics (efficiency, quality, safety, throughput, costs)
- Communicate clearly using excellent written & verbal skills
- Strong organization skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Experience of programming and data visualization tools such as MySQL, Python, Minitab, Power Bi, and Tableau is preferred
- Experience with Project Management tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft Project is preferred, but not required
- Fluent with common MS office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
