What to Expect
As a Service Technician you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the optimal performance of Tesla vehicles. You will be responsible for efficiently diagnosing and resolving complex electrical issues across various Tesla subsystems, providing technical support, and contributing to the continuous improvement of Tesla's vehicle operation.
What You’ll Do
- Efficiently and accurately diagnose all Tesla subsystems including Infotainment, High Voltage, Low Voltage, CAN BUS, Drivers Assistance (DAS), and Chassis/NVH
- Demonstrate proficiency in automotive networking systems including CAN, LIN, A2B, and Ethernet for effective troubleshooting and diagnostics
- Bench-top load firmware onto car computers, body control modules, battery management systems, etc.., ensuring seamless software integration
- Perform remote diagnostics on incoming vehicles to provide the service with a well-defined path for repair upon arrival
- Take a lead role in coordinating the hiring and training of new technicians, fostering their continuous development and growth
- Manually clone high voltage controllers by extracting old data, converting text to hex format, and flashing onto new controller ensuring system integrity
- Utilize internal GUI tools to re-flash modules in bootloader mode to facilitate smooth application execution
- Provide field technical support to technicians in the Texas metro area, mobile technicians, and customers
- Retrieve and review vehicle logs to determine source of issue
- Engage with engineering teams to resolve novel diagnostic challenges, contributing to the development of best practices
- Interpret and navigate electrical schematics/diagrams to diagnose root cause issues
- Conduct quality electrical circuit/terminal repairs per Tesla Standards, ensuring vehicles meet our quality and safety standards
- Perform additional tasks, including vehicle maintenance/repair, HVAC testing, performance evaluation, interviewing new technicians, and actively contributing to enhancing the overall experience for our customers
What You’ll Bring
- A degree or diploma in Automotive Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is preferred
- Strong familiarity with automotive networking protocols, including CAN, LIN, A2B and Ethernet
- Proficiency in interpreting electrical schematics/diagrams and using them to diagnose issues accurately
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a meticulous attention to detail
- Proven experience in coordinating and training technicians, driving their professional growth.
- Outstanding communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of Tesla vehicle systems and software is a significant advantage.
- Need Valid Driver License
