What to Expect What You’ll Do What You’ll Bring
Tesla is looking for an experienced Toxicologist to join the Chemical Risk and Regulatory team. The primary focus of this position is the management of regulatory and health risks through the generation of toxicity data. This position will work closely with Industrial Hygienists, Regulatory Scientists and Engineers to ensure compliance with TSCA, REACH and OSHA regulations. The position will also engage material science, environmental and sustainability teams to assess and review new and existing materials within Tesla and where necessary, recommend or assess potential substitutions.
To succeed in this role, one will need to be able to work independently, understand and willingly travel to engage with industrial processes and production leadership.
- Oversee generation and compilation of toxicity data for use in regulatory compliance (TSCA, REACH) and health risk management within Tesla
- Assist in filing and creating technical documents required for compliance with local, state, federal and international regulations
- Oversee and manage toxicity testing by third party contracted laboratories
- Review, update, generate internal occupational exposure limits (OELs) used by industrial hygienists and occupational physicians to manage health risks across Tesla
- Assess quantitative and qualitative risk data for Tesla sites to identify materials that should be assessed for substitution for less hazardous materials or processes
- Collaborate with team members from Material Engineering, Environmental and Sustainability to assess new materials for risk, and replace or find potential alternatives
- Experience in industrial or environmental toxicity, DABT preferred or willingness to work toward certification
- Technical Degree in Toxicology, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene or other similar related degree or equivalent experience
- Willingness to travel to a variety of Tesla sites, to include Research and Development as well as Manufacturing, 10-20% travel
- Background in developing, assessing, or utilizing OELs in an industrial setting, experience working as an industrial hygienist preferred
