Quality Technician, Model Y, Vehicle
The Quality Technician will ensure that all material, both in-process and incoming, meets Tesla’s quality requirements and specifications. This person will be responsible for identifying quality issues within the manufacturing environment, leading investigations, root cause analysis, collecting relevant process and product data, and managing non-conforming material. This person will work closely with cross- functional teams including production and engineering to escalate and maintain rapid response to quality issues with supporting and pertinent data and drive continuous improvements to the production process.
What You'll Do
- Perform various inspections, quality process audits and testing to evaluate product and process performance and disposition of non- conforming material
- Drive root cause investigations for warranty, in-process and incoming quality issues, corrective actions implementation, and follow- up on countermeasure robustness
- Work with engineering teams to validate new product or vehicle designs, equipment, and processes
- Develop quality inspections methods, criteria, instructions for quality containments and quality action notices
- Analyze production data to identify potential non-conforming or at-risk material
- Develop best practices and use lessons learned for future problem solving and decision making
- Work with cross-functional teams to meet safety, quality, and production goals
What You'll Bring
- Experience with quality and process control in a high-volume manufacturing environment
- Utilize applicable standards and systems to reference product specifications and customer requirements
- Highly skilled in problem solving and root cause analysis techniques
- Create and manage production change approvals and/or deviations
- Ability to use a range of basic test and measurement tools, including calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches, etc. to collect, interpret and report results of data analysis
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in Microsoft 365 including Teams, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint
Essential Physical Demands
- Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours a day, including over varied and uneven terrain
- Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
- Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach to install parts
- Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours a day
- Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
- Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing
- Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses, safety
- shoes, reflective vest, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
