What to Expect What You’ll Do What You’ll Bring
The Cell Quality team is a small team within the R&D organization responsible for incoming, production and field reliability. The group projects focus on mass production Li-ion cells for all programs, including Model S, X, 3, Cybertruck, Semi and Energy Products.
The position is to support daily quality activities for conducting failure analysis for all 4680 in-house programs(Semi & Cybertrucks), production quality inspection standards in GFTX. Candidate is expected to lead or support quality focused validation or operations activities & cell-related projects, typically involving CCL, GFTX production organization. Must demonstrate the ability to effectively interface with employees within cross-functional teams ranging from Production Associates to Managers within Tesla. The Technician must be extremely organized, detail orientated, with strong ability to prioritize and multitask, successfully collaborate on projects with a range of business objectives. This person must exhibit the knowledge, leadership, and drive needed to not only challenge the status quo, but also define and execute the optimal path forward.
- Operate in the ‘inspect, diagnose and repair’ mindset
- Perform failure analysis on cells undergoing validation/reliability comprehensive tests and report findings in a detailed manner
- Work closely with manufacturing, process, and quality teams to establish processes and procedures that will ensure consistently high quality
- Comprehend current production quality trends based on dashboards or from occurrences in the line
- Execute timely corrective action for quality mitigation and containment
- Collaborate with Engineering teams to support investigation, containment and execution for strategic quality issues
- Monitor quality, determine the root cause of problems and implement corrective actions and countermeasures
- Analyze and disposition component and product defects as a member of the Material Review Board
- Quality control experience in test/manufacturing environment
- Ability to wear PPE, which may include a full-face respirator and coveralls as needed due to working with hazardous chemicals
- Experienced in QS-9000, ISO/TS 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, DFMEA, PFMEA preferred
- Experience with extensive problem-solving and root cause analysis
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, ability to lift and sort parts of up to 30 pounds as needed
- Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
