Construction Superintendent, Instrumentation & Controls

What to Expect
The Construction Superintendent, Instrumentation and Controls will be responsible for supervising the Installation of Instrumentation and Controls Construction scopes in our Gigafactory in Austin, Texas. We have very tight schedules with the goal to make our team efficient and effective while our factory is developed.

What You'll Do
  • Assure the highest level of safety, productivity, work quality, reliability, & completion for all instrumentation and controls contractor installations
  • Plan and coordinate the work activities of all involved subcontractors for assigned construction scopes in alignment with available engineering deliverables, tools, construction equipment, and materials
  • Define installation execution plan and sequences required for Equipment installation (PLC & PSP panels, cable tray, conduit & cable routing, wire pull, installation & termination of any field instruments within scope
  • Participate in engineering design reviews and provide constructability input. Find creative solutions to challenging problems, removing barriers to hitting deadlines
  • Understand Sequences of Operation (SOO) and how systems are designed to operate
  • Review & closeout all I&C Scopes, includes working with design engineers, keeping record of as-builts, managing change, writing RFI’s, & supporting commissioning & scheduling inspections for system turnovers
  • Play an active role in the development of the safety culture on the project, making safety a natural part of all work performed, by reviewing subcontractor PTP (Pre-Task Plans) and MOP’s (methods of procedure)

What You'll Bring
  • 7+ years of experience on industrial controls and field installation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to read, interpret, and manage changes to instrumentation design packages, panel locations, layout drawings, BIM models, controls schedules, PLC termination schedules, and wiring detail drawings
  • Ability to work within a high-performance, cross-functional organization with extremely tight timelines and aggressive goals, with willingness to spend a high percentage of time in the field managing contractor safety and progress tracking
